Constellation (2024)

Truly engaging show for some
30 March 2024
Constellation surprised me, I had no preconceptions before going into the show - I hadn't even watched the promo. Bingeing the first 3 episodes I realised this show was going to be a favourite. I found myself rewatching between episodes to pick up on extra details and easter eggs. Also engaging a lot online with people regarding theories and observations.

Only a handful of shows get my attention like this. Reading other reviews it seems for hard core sci-fi fans this show does not have the depth they want. Whilst others find the plot too difficult and convoluted. So perhaps I sit somewhere in-between and found it immensely enjoyable with the level of sci-fi and relationships explored.

I do not understand some of the 1 star reviews, even if the show is not for you the quality of production and acting does not warrant such low rating.

The premise is interesting. The acting by Noomi Rapace is amazing. Johnathan Banks knocks it out of the park the role is beyond perfect for him. The twin girls playing Alice are captivating. And Barbara Sukowa I was very happy to see - always loved her in 12 Monkeys. It is beautifully shot and the writing is of high quality.

Show was written as a limited series, but has kept the door open for future seasons. This can be a little frustrating because a true limited series may have answered some questions more fully. Therefore I hope Apple renew this as I think there are a number of other character arcs to explore more fully that of Henry, Irena, Paul and Ilya.

If your on the fence on whether to try this show I'd suggest just giving it a try. You might be pleasantly surprised like myself. If not, you watch an episode or two and move on.

Let it grow on you, worth it in the end
3 December 2023
I started watching OBEs and was a little meh, it's not grabbing me the first episode. I was almost ready to ditch it. But the story starts to pick up speed and well it was an intruiging twist on the original OB.

Second half of the season I felt the story telling and actng was really starting to be on par at times with OB. OBE, I think it needed to find it's groove, but every now and then it doesn't quite hit it and that's okay because overall it's an enjoyable, exciting watch and the premise is a good one and stands alone in it's own right.

Great to see the OB universe expanded.

The really low reviews on here are a shame as I think a number of the reviewers have given up too early. But great to see it tempered with people seeing this show for it's own worth.

Don't overlook this show!

I absolutely love this TV adaption. It has it's own flavour and take, but keeping enough of the core that it still feels familiar.

Just it enjoy it for the great work it is, in it's own right. No need to compare against the book or movie.

3 episodes in and I'm intrigued and thoroughly hooked

This show is definitely not slow, it begs a focussed watch. Keep your attention on the small details - they will pay off as bit by bit we learn a little more about Kirby's (Elisabeth Moss) crazy world.

After coming off Apple TV's other recent show 'Serverance', it's great to find another show that is just as weird and wonderful but in it's own unique way. Leaving you wonderng what the heck is going on, yet a number of different ideas/theories are hinted at.

Great start, can't wait to see where this is headed.

Mixed feelings but nevertheless overall an interesting and enjoyable watch

Warning: Spoilers
I never read the comic book series this show is based on, so approaching it as such I found the premise of the story really interesting. I can see this show may not appeal to a wide audience, but for me it offered alot.

Great acting and character development; Agent 355, Yorrick, Hero, Nora, Beth, The President... they all have many faults and it was intriuging to explore their history against who they are becoming in this new world. Watch those characters grow, falter, adjust themselves and keep going.

Agree with some others that the undertones of comedy in the banter gave it spark in otherwise heavy content.

I did feel a little too much time was spent on Roxanne and the 'Amazons', that part of the plot line was tedious at times, most likely because I truely disliked Roxanne and the absolute blind loyalty (weakness through fear?) of those following her. Nora aptly summed it up in the final Episode when she described Roxanne's behaviour and tactics no different to the men she so despised. In this area I do agree with some of the negative reviews that the man hating was a litle too much to stomach at times.

But Roxanne is now gone. I am truely sad that the show has been cancelled as I see alot of promise for season 2. They are looking for a new home for the series, I sincerely hope it comes to fruition.

Favourite episode...so far!
16 October 2021
A brilliant episode, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Some great background, answers, but also new questions arising. As always beautiful visually.

I've read the books and I am not put off by differences in storylines, quite the opposite can appreciate this tv series for the fantastic rendition that it is. Loved it, ignore the haters.

Dark humour and amazing cast
15 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was not expecting much from this show, took it up randomly to watch. Great surprise; dark humour, amazing cast with a black mirror vibe. Cristin Miloti executes both timelines and the different personas well. Byron is so freaking creepy, well played. Five minutes until the end of the finale, there I was, ho hum all nicely tied up and Hazel gets her way. I was thinking it must be a limited series, then what the... well least we have next seasons opening and premise.

Like Game of Thrones for Kids (but with a better ending!)
20 March 2021
Throughly enjoyable movie, yes the plot is simple and pulls its formula from many tried and true story lines, but it's a kids movie what else do you expect. My child loved it and it really made her think and ask questions around trust and working together. It's not quite a Coco, but it's a good watch. Visually stunning and great voice acting.

Refreshing and nicely done
28 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Wow! A slow burn, that builds to a good pace in the last couple of episodes with an amazing plot twist that I did not see coming. Comes to poignant ending of both timelines for the true victims whom no one will ever know were victims.
