Dexter: New Blood (2021)
I'm just glad it exists
First of all, to anyone saying that it is worse than the original series ending - you clearly do not remember, how godawful the last three seasons were. Even if New Blood was just 10 hours of Dexter running through the woods for a deer - it would still be better, than seasons 6-8.
Its fun to see MCH as Dexter again, as always, great performance from him and Jennifer Carpenter as "ghost" Deb, they were always the best part of the show. I really hated the ghost dad in the original series, how he was always used as an exposition dump, but ghost sister is much better, more showing (not telling) of mental state that the protagonist is in, interacting with the environment in an interesting way (just as a hallucination would, hah). She is my favourite character of the show, and yeah, would've been better to have her, you know, alive, but they had to deal with an unfair cards that they had after season 8.
All the new cast members are good, the story is captivating and always keeps you wondering what happens next. The main antagonist is definitely one of the better villains in dexterverse, even though his backstory is not as interesting as that of Trinity or Ice Truck Killer, Clancy Brown gives an amazing performance.
Main problem comes from the pacing of the story - we spend 8 episodes going in circles in terms of father-son relationship, with their reconciliation in ep 9 and subsequent falling out in ep10. They should start their killing duo in ep2, spend 7 episodes bonding and then the fall of Dexter Morgan would've been that more tragic and effective. Or better yet, why not have 2nd season (yeah, many had fears they would stretch it just like the old series into too many seasons, but in retrospect - one more season of NB would've been great). There is a wonderful moment in ep9 - Dex and his newfound family are happily celebrating christmas, and main villain stops by to send a message; Dex and his son immediately get all nervous, while the rest are unaware of what's happening. That should've been the second season of New Blood - father-son murder duo, and their loved ones, unaware, yet with growing suspicion over the course of the season, with eventual uncovering by the end. We could even have Dexter reunion with his former colleagues from Miami PD (now them knowing of who he really is), that this season just had no time for.
Overall, this is definitely better than the "lumberjack" ending, but still has flaws. It's great to see this story wrapped up (no duct-tape-and-body-bags pun intended), and it's great to have one more good season of this wonderful show.
Lucy (2014)
A slightly better made Neil Breen movie
You just gotta love when you as a viewer have no idea what are the strengths and weaknesses of your main hero throughout the movie. Creating tension and drama is for shmucks, real kino has none of that, real movies are about how awesome and all-powerful the main hero is and how everyone else just sucks.
Also I would love this movie recast, with Mila Jovovich as Lucy, Bruce Willis as a cop and Ian Holm as a professor... wait, I've seen this one, this is just 5th element all over again, but dumber! Well, I guess its not stealing when you steal from yourself.
And yes, that's not how brain works, using 100% of it is just epilepsy.
Dreamland (2019)
Good movie to go to with yo girl
Like for real, didn't even notice any inconsistencies or anything since I was not paying any attention at all. For sure, looks like the best movie Margo Robbie was in since Academy Award winning Suicide Squad (2016). I sure wish when I was 17, hot blonde snuck up into my house and stayed for a while, but hey, they call that kind of stuff "fiction" for a reason.
Zelyonyy slonik (1999)
Terrific. Brilliant. Breathtaking
This is one of the best movies of our time. Great story, dialog, symbolism.
Amazing story about comradeship and brotherhood.
