The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle (2000)
Underrated Masterpiece
Just kidding, of course.
I am also the only single person remaining who remembers this film.
Why do I remember it, you may ask?
Because back in the 90s you had to connect to the internet with a dial-up modem, and this prevented the entire phone line inside your home from being used. This was also before people had cell phones, so the phone in your home was especially important.
So to make a long story short. I was cyber chatting with a bunch of hot ladies. And nobody was able to call my home. This has absolutely nothing to do with the film though.
Maybe I just really like chatting on the internet.
Station West (1948)
Underrated
Despite this movie featuring Dick Powell, I still managed to enjoy it. Dont get me wrong, Powell is a pretty decent actor, but his character is always rather two dimensional and predictable to me. I suppose this would be a personal opinion of mine. But anyway, the rest of the cast seem to pick up the slack. Jane Greer is especially pleasant, an underrated female actress. Highly attractive but also likeable. I suppose nobody considers what type of audience which Greer would captivate.
Both her and this movie are entirely underrated.
I quattro dell'Ave Maria (1968)
Oh look, another underrated spaghetti western
Movie was worth it for Terence Hill and Eli Wallach alone.
Not sure why anyone would rate this so low. Yes, its obviously not a big budget film, but the actors and the setting are some of the best. People like this just dont exist anymore. Its such a unique style of film from a period of time never coming back. Young Terence Hill is perhaps one of the most stone cold hombres I've ever seen. Its such a perfect casting. And Wallach... Wallach is always pleasant to behold. The film is not bad at all despite the use of dubbed voices. True, the acting is perhaps not the most vibrant, but I dont look at this as a shortcoming at all. I think it only adds the overall character of the film.
I'm so disappointed in the current user rating being under 7.0. I just cant understand why this would be. Doesn't feel right.
My personal and realistic rating as a fan of westerns from the early 1930s, and all the way up into 1979, would be a score of 8.5.
However I'm giving it a full 10 score here in hopes it might someday elevate this current and low user rating. It deserves it.
House of Strangers (1949)
Precursor to The Godfather
Eddy G. Is perhaps my all time favorite actor, and his role in this movie is something rather comedic to me, personally. He plays an emotional Italian even though Eddy is Jewish and from eastern Europe. Scenes where Eddy is at the dinner table playing very loud opera music as a stereotypical immigrant from Italy really made me laugh.
Though whats most interesting to me is how this movie seems to be precursor to the infamous Godfather series. The nature of this film is loosely similar. Though I still think its close enough to say this film was a significant influence on The Godfather.
The film also happens to be very decent. Definitely a must see if you are into crime or noir.
Don't Bother to Knock (1952)
Marilyn's an angel
I don't necessarily consider her to be beautiful, she has more than a few boyish features, but man she is smart.
Her voice is hypnotic in this. It takes real understanding of ones own self to conjure such soft, glistening spoken words. Absolutely the most alluring beauty possibly allowed on screen.
Strictly entertainment for men.
Of course the film itself is damn fine too. Performances are just a notch above average, but the film really offers something unique among the endless ocean of Film Noire.
It touches a bit on horror. And the situation or story is wildly abnormal for the early 1950s. Impressively so. This would have been some kind of raw, believable shocker during its day.
I would personally rate this movie higher if I could. But realistically I would give this movie an 8 out of 10 when adhering to IMDB standards. Yes trust me It deserves the entire 8. I thought long about this. The film is truly unique!!
San Quentin (1937)
underrated
No terrible performances, and a regular bogart.
Film is a bit fast and loose, seems maybe rushed or perhaps on the lower end of a standard budget, but remains entertaining.
Totally classic WB. Worth every second of your time!
Racket Girls (1951)
chauvinism and perception
This title seems to be a bit underrated. Of course i do picture the majority of IMDB reviewers living in a home full of cats, but lets look at this movie a bit more realistically, shall we? :)
does this title truly deserve a 1.7 review score? I think not.
This is clearly in the 4s or even low 5s. Solely as entertainment for men.
What this movie strives to achieve, it does well, surely dear reviewers, this must account for something?
Magnificent Obsession (1954)
Excellent!!
Leans a bit on the soap opera side, but overall performances are tolerable.
However, what really makes this film unique, are the many scenes which perfectly depict storybook 1950s American life.
Scenes such as the moment Helen and Joyce are returning home before discovering what happened to their father. Or perhaps my favorite, when Bob (Rock Hudson) is speaking with his girlfriend on the phone while in his hospital bed. Pay very close attention to this scene, it is spectacular. I have not witnessed such a model of heterosexuality in any consumable media on earth, and I'm really not exaggerating! Its completely awesome. I'm only about a quarter through this film, but I couldn't resist the urge to dash here and write about it. Its really that good. And before you criticize, yes, I consider myself to be experienced enough to predict the overall outcome of this film, at least for the sake of enjoyment, without having to watch it entirely! I rate this a 10 all the way!! Not a single doubt in my mind about it!
(update: I did watch the entire film, and thoroughly enjoyed it all the way. Still gets a 10!!!)
Not as a Stranger (1955)
Underrated
Great cast all over. Havilland and Michtum are some of my all time favorite actors. Its a wonderful pairing. The roles are decent enough to be entertaining, I don't see much room for significant criticism anywhere. The additions of Gloria Grhame and especially Frank Sinatra really adds a unique flavor to the mix. And ontop of all this, Frank manages to pull a convincing job, which may be unique to his career!
Plus then you also have Bickford, Marvin, Morgan and Chaney. This is quite an interesting list.
Anyway, I wanted to give this film a 7.2 rating, but only had the options of either 7 or 8, and I felt that 7 was just too low, so I gave it an 8.
In any case, this film seems to be underrated here with a current total user-score of only 6.7, which is just ghastly!!
They Won't Believe Me (1947)
Not a fan of Robert
This film is a bit on the dull side, but watchable, though just barely. Robert Youngs performances are not exactly good, I don't necessarily believe he is talented as an actor, plus on top of this I don't picture him as someone who would realistically be involved with beautiful women, even for mid-twentieth century standards. Though despite this, I must reiterate that the film is actually watchable, which is a reasonably high standard for me, personally.
I'm not sure what score to give this, 7 feels too high but 6 feels too low.. I suppose I would personally rate it 6.8, if that makes sense to anyone here.
Out of the Past (1947)
Low ratings be gone!
For those of you who potentially do not understand this film, let me make this very clear for you.
I will not tolerate low ratings or criticism here on this film!
Robert Mitchum is an all time male role model.
This is literally centuries of perfection of all human history.
And hes funny!
Shame on you for underrating this!!
Shame!!!
El desconocido: la historia de El Cholo Adrián (2017)
Pretty good
Great show if you are particular with soap operas.... but for guys.
Show also reminds me of Gran Hotel which was another great series.
