A Winter Getaway (2021)
Enjoyed it but music too loud at the end!
Loved all the activities, actors and especially the scenery. Chemistry was good and would like to see more of Brooks Darnell in future movies.
Canada looks like a beautiful country and the filming locations are gorgeous. Winter movies are always my favorite so I would definitely love to see more areas.
Unfortunately, once again the music overwhelmed the last half hour and I could NOT hear what was going on! I don't know if this only happens in certain areas but it's a problem.
Great movie otherwise and now I have a craving for Root Beer :)
If I Only Had Christmas (2020)
Zzzzzzzzzz
Didn't care for the story as it was boring and drawn out. Not much to do with Christmas; this could have taken place any time of the year. As for the The Wizard of Oz reference - that's all it was - with some various lines and similar names thrown in for good measure. Expected more from a movie boasting about a spin from such a classic!
Five Star Christmas (2020)
Lacking Chemistry
Bethany is my absolute favorite among all the Hallmark actresses and I was really looking forward to this movie. The previews shown funny moments and silliness which I know she's great at, too! Unfortunately, it didn't quite deliver.
So what happened? I'm not quite sure.
To me, there seemed to be no chemistry. None between supposed family members. They actually did seem more like a bunch of strangers sharing a B&B than a family.
And I definitely didn't detect any sparks between Bethany and Victor which was the most disappointing.
Love them both in other movies but as a couple they just didn't click. They both seemed like they were holding back. Or maybe they were just too mismatched for this movie?
The main story was also somewhat predictable as I knew exactly what the twist was going to be in the first 10 minutes.
What I did like:
The dad and Beth had a great romance starting which was cute.
And an Excellent cast! Loved all their different stories and getting to know them.
A Timeless Christmas (2020)
Ryan Paevey is adorable in this movie!
Really enjoyed this! It's been a long time since I watched a movie and not want to get up and miss anything!
Loved Charles's reaction to future technology and glad they showed him learning about everything. (They failed to achieve this in the movie 'Journey Back to Christmas')
Erin was great as usual. Excellent chemistry between them and truly enjoyed watching them together.
Supporting cast was also very good and liked their side stories.
But, my favorite was the story. It seems as if they (sort of) made a movie out of the Christmas Clock that was mentioned in another Hallmark movie called 'A Very Merry Mix-Up' (which is a great movie, too.)
Finally, I honestly didn't know how this one was going to end because of the different possibilities. I hoped he would stay but also go back. But, if he went back knowing what he learned, he would completely change everything in the future so I was a little worried. I really REALLY wanted him to back and right some things, (And set himself up for the future) then return to Erin/Megan.
Love this movie and how it ended but I wanted more to happen. Seemed like the end came too fast and easy.
(Additional note: Didn't anyone think to check the security camera footage that Charles saw when he first woke up in his office in the future? I kept waiting for Megan to do that but it never happened. I thought they showed us that for a reason but I guess it wasn't necessary...)
Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater (2020)
It's cute but there's no plot
The beginning was promising but then the movie moved slow. The chemistry between Ashley Williams and Niall Matter was ok, too. I like both these actors but I wish there was more of a story or some kind of drama.
Btw.. building a tiny house out of wood and calling it a gingerbread house doesn't make it one.
Also, I noticed that the ex-husbands wife wore the exact same dress to party at the end (but in black/silver) that Ashley wore in the movie Holiday Hearts - she's actually wearing it on the movie cover in dark red/silver.
There's the typical misunderstanding at the end- overhearing a conversation and misinterpreting it by not sticking around to actually listen to the whole thing.
Not a bad movie but I hoped for a little more.
