The Unfamiliar (2020)
Nice try?
This flick started off with some promise but unfortunately it we down hill fast. Once they got to Hawaii the plot line totally fell apart. It seems as though the writers didn't think far enough ahead and just started throwing different ideas into the mix until it just became a hot mess. The last scene had me cussing at my TV.
Antrum: The Deadliest Film Ever Made (2018)
Really?!
I wanted so much for this to be a good movie but I had to stop watching with the stop motion "demon squirrel". So unless it got better after that, this was a complete bomb.
Devil in the Dark (2017)
Threw me for a loop.
The reason I really enjoyed this movie was because it subverted my expectations and it had that final little twist. I was pretty convinced that Adam had asked Clint to camping so that he could kill Clint for coming between him and his dad, boy was I wrong. Great plot, great characters, beautifully filmed.
Fractured (2016)
Good Storytelling Twist
While not the most original plot, I found this to be a entertaining movie. When the plot flips and you begin to put the pieces together is when the movie comes to life. I think it smart choice that put a fresh twist on the story.
Emergo (2011)
Entertaining
This m does not break any new ground or explore any new ideas but it is entertaining. While technically not found footage it does give you the fly on the wall perspective of a family enduring a poltergeist/haunting. The characters likeable and the scares are decent. Definitely worth watching.
Evil Eye (2020)
Not sorry I watched
This is one of those movies that I'm not sorry I watched but I won't watch again. It wasn't a full on horror movie but it did a decent job at building some suspense. They did a good job building a story around the concept of reincarnation but it could have been darker. All in all I'd say if there's nothing else on you want to watch go ahead and give this a shot.
Cujo (1983)
Nice try
I grew up watching all of the Stephen King adaptations but it wasn't until I read the books as an adult that I realized how lacking they are. There are so many details and underlying stories not addressed. Having said that Cujo is definitely nightmare fuel for the faint hearted. It doesn't take long to be dropped into the sweltering hot car with Tad and Donna, you can imagine the sweat dripping down your neck. Unfortunately Tad's whining is a bit difficult to listen to but it adds to the tension. Overall this is a must see for King fans.
Prince of Darkness (1987)
Classic 80s horror
Pure 80s awesomeness. Practical effects, Donald Pleasence and Victor Wong, what more can you ask for? The Walter character was over acted and annoying but it wasn't a deal breaker. You just can't beat a Carpenter film.
Halloween at Aunt Ethel's (2019)
Future cult classic?
No, this movie will not go down in history as the best horror movie ever made, but, if you are looking for a fun, sexy and campy horror comedy you've found it. Just pop some popcorn and have fun with it.
