Too Good To Be True - Has Channel 5 read the trade descriptions act?
12 March 2024
Only way Allen Leech could get himself cast in this was to produce it because his unconvincimg audition would not have got him the part. Wooden acting on his behalf, worthy of Hugh Grant in his prime. Unbelievable, thin plot with poor dialogue. Kara Tointon is quite a good actress so didnt need to do this rubbish. Production wasnt even much good with some scenery quite clearly hundreds of miles away from London but supposedly within a short distance of it. Can't see any reason to recommend this programme. Only plus is I now realise that if Allen Leech is anything else I will save myself the disappointment of watching it or at least do so with very low expectations.

Really Poor
27 April 2022
First thing I have ever seen Steve Coogan in I didn't appreciate. Cast is ok, (except for Aisling Bea hamming it up as usual), but the script is confusing and the "plot'/purpose of this programme unclear. Overall this is just a turn off. Steve Coogan so often totally nails whatever he is involved in. Not here, not sure why! But maybe just the co-writing collaboration doesn't work. Really disappointed because I wanted and expected to like it because of Steve, but just couldn't.

Utterly Rubbish

From the first moment to the last this movie doesn't fail to fail in all regards. A movie which I think thinks its clever or smart, but just isn't anything like that at all. Weird, odd and as dull as anything. Pathetic really. Don't waste your money or 2 hrs of your life seeing such pathetic crap. It is truly the worst thing I have ever seen.

Peep Show (2003–2015)

Genius

This is utterly brilliant. From the first few seconds of the very first episode to the final seconds of the last one, (so far), in series 8 the standard never drops. It is easy to overlook the 'supporting characters' because the two central ones are so completely defined, written and portrayed by Mitchell and Webb, but the entire ensemble of characters, whether they feature once or recur more regularly are equally fantastic. The internal dialogue and POV filming make this show so fresh and interesting and the content of what the characters are 'thinking' is so spot on. Really good comedy is about having characters with real character and not just funny lines to say and having enough elements in it that the viewer can relate to. This hits the mark, with 100% accuracy, in those respects. This is better than The Office and with far more episodes too. Is this the best comedy ever? Quite probably!

Creatively written and well acted
1 October 2013
This is a really good example of a situation comedy where relatively small and seemingly trivial things can be focused on and expanded into hilarious situations. The show rarely extends beyond the confines of the house and typically revolves around the four main characters with the strange neighbour next door making regular appearances and perhaps another individual included for the particular episode in question.

There is a very strong cast and the comedy is balanced between a decent plot, (or set-up), excellent dialogue and some visual humour. It really does have the feel of a family with the little nuances that make family life very funny at times. This is a quality show, which may be under the radar a little, compared to other more high profile productions, but actually is far better than most of them.

Well worth watching an entire episode, (they wrap themselves up quite neatly and satisfactorily in the end), if you haven't heard or seen it before. Far more people are going to enjoy this than not.

Just Very Funny
1 October 2013
If you haven't watched this then give any of the episodes a go. It is just pure entertainment, there is not supposed to be a point to any of it other than to make you laugh, (which it repeatedly succeeds in doing). It is slick, has fresh tight scripts moves along at a pace and you don't really need any prior knowledge of the characters to enjoy each episode fully. Don't expect the main protagonists to develop over time. This isn't one of these get to know the characters and feel empathy with them over a course of a series things. Ultimately comedy is about making you laugh and this one manages to do that with its absurd set-ups and excellent dialogue. Co-written by Jack Whitehall, he deserves credit for creating something which is very enjoyable.

Good to Watch
4 October 2006
This movie may not have too many twists and turns, (it does have some), but overall it keeps you interested throughout and builds to a reasonably satisfactory conclusion.

Some of the close up shots show a particularly calm sea, given how far out they are supposed to be. It is always possible to pick holes in films and this one is no different. However, overall I found this movie entertaining enough to watch to the end and can honestly say that I enjoyed it.

Not the greatest movie ever made, but worth a couple of hours of your time to see.
