Forget Paris (1995)
Forget Paris refers to Hally met Sally
I like the humor style of Bill Crystal. Forget Paris is my favorite. I've watch it several times. Last night, I watched another Bill's movie "when Hally met Sally". Suddenly, the opening song stroke me: "...It's very clear...". Ha! it's the song Micky quizzes Ellen at the river bank night scene in Paris. It's interesting to see that "Forget Paris" refers to Bill's previous movie. It's those small humors (and not obvious) which make it so unique and wonderful.
Longitude (2000)
great masterpiece
I ran into this at late night on A&E a couple of years ago. Although I missed about 30 minutes of the beginning part, I immediately got 'glued' to TV by the casts' great performance, great story line, and its historical-correct setting.
As a side note, Sir Isaac Newton (1642--1727) was in the same era as in the time setting of the story. I wonder if Sir Isaac Newton had ever involved with this 'board of longitude' ;)
Escape from Alcatraz (1979)
Papillon is much better
I stumbled this one last night and found it a good movie. I agree with some earlier post that the similarity to Shawshank Redemption with different characters. However, I think the pace is a little slow and the tension is not strong. I still think "Papillon" and Steve McQueen is the best. Check it out.
