Elsbeth (2024)
Refreshing surprise!
I never thought we'd run into Miss Tascioni again, and voilá! There she is. I'm so happy seasoned professionals (as Michelle and Robert King) have extended their narrative universe (for the third time?) in one of the quirkiest, funniest, smartest characters they have envisioned.
I also found this episode to be better looking and stylized than their previous efforts, because in all honesty, I had no idea what I switched on and the first images hooked me in... and then, five minutes in, Elsbeth Tascioni!
I also appreciated the fact that this is not a whodunit show, because I was personally feeling some fatigue by the genre (we are witness to the crime as soon as the show begins).
I can't wait for the rest of the season!

Tarantino Influenced Pilot
The pilot seems to be inspired by Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (the relationship amongst the hit men, their lives and humor besides the job, the narrative's time shifts). The tone, as in the movie, is film noirish and filled with wry humor. This is the positive note, but there's something lacking that doesn't just keep up with the expectations, something in the rhythm, in the way information is delivered. I would say the worst is the writing and the best is Carla Gugino. I'm writing this as I'm watching episode 2, so maybe I'll update this personal review afterwards.
