Murder in Coweta County (1983 TV Movie)
7/10
A story Rich in Georgia History
4 February 2007
Being from Coweta County myself, the setting of this story portrayed this quaint southern county in a very convincing way. Johnny Cash embodies the character of a Coweta County sheriff with wonderful aptitude, and holds together the story in a brilliant manner. And with Andy Griffith in the mix, nothing can go wrong. As a required assignment for high school freshman in Coweta County, I enjoyed this movie very much the first time I watched it five years ago, and it is still a very nice watch today.

So, if you're looking for a good cinematic portrayal of southern life, this is a good pick for you.

Shortbus (2006)

Life unfolds under the gritty New York skylight
19 January 2007
After reading many of the message board posts for "Shortbus", I was afraid that this was just going to be another one of those movies who's plot tries too hard to justify its graphic nature...but I was terribly wrong.

Throughout the entire movie I was moved. The story was heart felt, and you really associated yourself with the characters and events. This movie challenges the thought of eroticism vs. truthful sexuality in a very tasteful manner, and delivers a knockout blow to the imagination. As you watch the lives unfold of these hip New Yorkers, you feel as if you've been placed right in the center of their world, encased by their emotions and inner strengths and weaknesses. By the time the film ends, you feel good that you watched this remarkable film, and not dirty as some people would like you to believe.

Hopefully we'll being seeing more of this type of real-life, gritty cinema in the future.
