The 100 (2014–2020)
riveting series with good character development
28 December 2014
I am usually drawn to series like Homeland, the Newsroom, Studio 60 and United States of Tara. With the Christmas break here, I went looking for something to bridge the long wait, so I checked out The 100. And I am glad I did. Despite negative reviews, the trailer caught my attention, so I started watching. In any case, this series has a lot to offer. It has a descent and structurally smart plot, good editing and music, gripping scenes and stories within the main one and talented, poignant acting(and actors). It is addictive, like some reviews pointed out, I watched the first and what's been aired of the second season back-to-back. To respond to reviews that say it is unrealistic: yes in some ways it is, but I just saw Guardians of the Galaxy, and I got over the fact one of the characters is a talking raccoon, so... The main thing with series (or movies) like this is the question: can I accept this reality? This depends in great part on how it is portrayed and conceptualized. True, the story could at times use some more depth or lacks in internal accuracy, but as a viewer it is easy to accept the "unrealistic" parts and ignore the few shortcomings, simply because these aspects are compensated with a good story arc and excellent acting. So I would say: give it a try and be prepared for this show to take a foothold. With The 100 on break now too, I sadly have to wait on one more show to start airing again. Can't wait for the next episode!

Accidentally on Purpose (2009–2010)
Love it!
30 September 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This show is funny. It has (until now) a pretty straight forward plot, but that doesn't mean it's bad. The actors, especially Jenna Elfman is delivering a great performance just as we all know and love about her. I hadn't seen much of her since Dharma & Greg, but it's like she never left.

The supporting actors are a well balanced add to the show. The Scottish lady (Ashley Jensen) is hilarious and the loser friends of the guy fit this show like a glove. I first had my doubts about the guy (Jon Foster), especially considering Jenna Elfman, but after the second episode I think he has what it takes to make it work.

I do wonder if the show can grow into a regular, seeing the plot doesn't offer us much to go on at this time, but it definitely has great potential!

Fay Grim (2006)
a smart, well-putt and exiting film
28 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
At first I was a bit skeptic about this film, but soon I was captured by its well written plot. Surprising is the development of the plot throughout the film. It had a sense of drama as a red line in the film.

The somewhat instable character of Parker Posey suggest that she plays an character who is not dumb, but chooses to stay in the dark when it comes to the truth. Later on it will be clear that she is in fact an intelligent, caring, and most of all, a woman who is prepared to sacrifice a great deal, not only to find out the depths of her husbands betrayal, history and activities, but then also protects him at any costs. And these cost are not to be taken lightly. An quit sad ending if you ask me, but then it also has a victory.

A wonderful plot, a great performance by Parker Posey, a fine film.

Catch and Release (II) (2006)
a well written, romantic comedy with a twist of life
28 April 2007
I've just seen the movie, I truly loved it! It has all the ingredients of a romantic comedy, one to sit back to and enjoy, but ingeniously "mixed" with real life tragic. Jennifer Garner, was excellent. You would have expected that in a "more soft" movie like this, she would fall out of place, but that is absolutely not the case. She did this roll wonderfully, "it fits her". Some moments I did think could use some more spike, but eh, every movie has that kind of moments. Kevin Smith was just hilarious. Also excellent played rolls by Timothy Olyphant and Juliette Lewis (I thought she wasn't going to do any more movies?, well, glad she did.) All in all, a great movie to watch.

Alias (2001–2006)
A show worth while
9 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
A show worth remembering, very well constructed, characters portrayed honestly by great actors (Victor Graber is sublime in this). A shame the show did not survive as long as I had hoped, but nevertheless, 5 great seasons. Great co-star Michael Vartan, which I hope to see in other productions.

The show is well constructed, with well thought-out plots that keep you interested throughout the seasons. I especially liked the first two seasons because the lead Sydney is still kind of naive, hopeful, the show takes you on her journey while she discovers herself and tries to make sense of the world around her. The tension between Vaughn and Sydney is especially fun to watch.

Later in the series, the storyline is stretched to it's breaking point in some episodes, but that's not surprising given J.J. Abrams involvement in the show. I did find it at times harmed the overall rhythm of the show and the overarching storyline.

All in all, a great show. I still have a great time watching it. Enjoy!
