Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. (2022)
Mis-characterized As A Comedy Should be a Light Tissue demanding Drama
Regina Hall and Sterling K Brown were brilliant in their respective roles and while there wasn't chemistry between the two of them I took that as part of the struggle trying to get expressed in the relationship between the "Pastor" and the "First lady". I found it painful to watch because it pushed the harsh realities of messy human through the ambitions, callings and competitive natures within and between churches. I found the interjection of the documenting person difficult to grasp since it wasn't a flowing part of the movie dialogue. It is a captivating watch mainly because I think it keeps you looking for that moment when something bigly defining would happen but maybe that is the reality of of yesterdays church generation. Regina Hall and Sterling K Brown as I said were brilliant and have that something in their acting that keeps it deep so it was hard to sit shallow with this one.
Isanghan byeonhosa Woo Young-woo (2022)
Excellent Light and Fun
I have to say as one who tends to be way to critical I think Eun-bin Park should receive an award for her performance in this series. It's brilliant. I remember a French series Astrid et Raphaëlle that was more police detective oriented and pretty good but I think Woo Young Woo was a better show. I loved the whale and Dolphin references. I thought the relationship aspect was a little weak only because I think there is too much emphasis on everybody working together and possible marrying each other. But a good fun and family friendly watch.
Why Her (2022)
Another Great K-Drama! Some gut wqrenching acting scenes! (Possible spoiler alert)
First of all my 2 favorites were Oh Soo Jae and Choi Tae Kook
The series is worth watching just to see the two of them engaged in a deadly power play. If I had one problem it was the romance - I thought the idea of a professor and a student was too much and Gong Chan just looked too much like a teenager and his insistence on clinging to Oh Soo Jae was creepy at times - Also it would seem like once she realized he was a client she should have had some ethical struggle as a lawyer getting romantically involved with a client - even if she worked it out due to the passage of time. He's a good actor just not right for this part and when the 2 of them were together it made her look like a teen/twenty something girl instead of the powerful lawyer who fought her way to the top. Anyway it was a good watch!
Beckett (2021)
Great WTF Action Thriller
I loved the intensity and mystery and sense of thrill in Beckett because he was not what it was not what I was expecting but it delivered. Not a thinking type movie and that was good because not knowing much about Beckett made him surprising and the movie more enjoyable it more. Good action.
Angmapansa (2021)
Worth the time
Min-Jung Kim is my favorite - you will love this well acted and good story line
emotions will run from hot to cold to tears. Just watch already!
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins (2021)
Could Have Been
While it had a relatively strong story idea it wasn't executed very well . It bothers me that the main Japanese characters spoke with what sounded like british accents almost as if that accent is reflective of some upper class that was not necessary for the story line and even for where we are in 2021 and the plethora of "foreign" films available where we can follow along with subtitles and put up with accents. I am also getting tired of the need for a romantic link just for the sake of a romantic link it made no sense or I should say it made weak sense in the story line.

The Paper Tigers (2020)
Badly Filled Martial Arts Template
This movie felt like a "template" martial arts flick where they just shoved in older actors, maybe altered the script a little, to play the parts of "younger actors" and hope that sentimentalism and identification with growing old and out of shape makes this work for viewers - I am not sure who this is supposed to appeal to --> older audience or younger? My heart goes out to Mykel Shannon Jenkins because nothing except one fight scene made sense for why he was even in the film. Some of the fight scenes were pretty good. But overall this did not work.
