The Sandman (2022)
Only for one character
The first episode was a masterpiece. Up till episode 6 I was very entertained. After that everything with the Vortex was so dragging. The character we all turned in for sat in the back. Eventually I only enjoyed the Corinthian. Disappointing, I had so much hope.
The filmmaking is truly amazing. Entertained and blew away the whole time. Also, I really enjoyed how the story is created with known figures. I know it's based on comics, never read them though. There were stil characters based on European and religious mythology. Very enjoyable!
But I think there's still potential. If the writers got some time, season 2 could be good.
¿Quién Mató a Sara? (2021)
When a final ruins everything
I really enjoyed the plot of season 1 and even the personal drama in season 2. I feel like the writers never understand why this show was so likeable.
Season 3 decided to take a step back of the personal drama and put in all kinds of plot points almost disconnected to our characters.
Like I said, season 1 is good, but after that it's a big mess and I will never again recommend it to anyone.
Overcomer (2019)
So much wrong
The movie started descent, but after "the reveal" it all went downhill. The biggest problem is that the three/four most centered characters weren't sympathetic nor interesting. The main couple had an arc which disappeared after the first act and then they went way over the inappropriate line. Thomas Hill was the most interesting character from the four, but there wasn't a lot to do with. The girl was a bit too flat. The biggest problem was how their storyline was dragged too long after the reveal. There were other characters who were much more interesting like the oldest son and the grandma, but they hadn't enough screentime.
I don't want to drag this movie too much, but every time I watch it, it gets worse. I only like it how they foreshadowing the end.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Charming
Besides I really like Captain America, I actually think this is one of the better MCU movies. It has a slow middle, which I very liked to bond with the characters. The story itself was quit simple, but the smooth line delivery from the actors made it very charming and intense when it had to be intense. The movie also had one of the better villains in the MCU, but the real goal was lacking a bit. The movie is really standing out because of the music and sound. I rewatch it and I was impressed.
Love and Monsters (2020)
My winner
I'm so happy this movie is nominated for several awards. It definitely deserve to win some. For example the visuals, they are great! They already can write a price in their notebook and that's the love and respect of the viewers.
Dylan O'Brien did a great job carrying this movie, but there were many other great actors. Especially Ariana Greenblatt and Michael Rooker performed very well.
The plot was maybe simple, but really gave me a nostalgic vibe. The kind of family movies we don't see that much anymore. The movies who brought me film love!
And I want to mention some mentionable, emotional scenes by O'Brien with some no-people creatures. It got the feelings and let me think about how I things handle in my life.
A Week Away (2021)
Kinda enjoyable
Let's start with the good points or point... I think the songs are very good done. The actors are better in singing than acting, obviously. The acting made me feel uncomfortable. Especially from the Kevin Quinn to be honest and that is a problem. I really like him as an musician and actor, but this movie doesn't fit him well. Oh, and the story is just a no. I thought, finally a Christian musical, but the Christian camp setting felt without a reason... I don't know, I didn't feel like I was watching a movie about christians. It could just be a random camp. It was just a weird movie.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: New World Order (2021)
Surprised
The first episode does a great job to make from Sam (the Falcon) a developed character. They show us the struggles from Bucky in a surprisingly interesting way. Also became the world how it is at the moment very clear. I excepted the story would have started in explosive way, but it was slow and refreshing.
The Mighty Ducks (1992)
A heartwarming classic
A charming film about a young man who has to turn a group of ice hockey children into a real team. Emilio Estevez as the main character makes up for some problems in the storytelling. The movie uses the classic Disney formula into a special cult classic.
Flora & Ulysses (2021)
Nice twist for the superhero genre
Many aspects in this movie work surprisingly well together. The performances are great and the dialogue works. It's a love letter to all the writers and comics out there. It works for the kids and is able to make a smile on the faces from the adults. The best thing is that the leading kid feels as a kid. She's smart, but not annoying.
WandaVision: Now in Color (2021)
Not the best episode
Compared to other people's opinion so far, this episode isn't my favorite. I still really like it and it has some really emotional moments. Like always it's very good filmed and the lines are very smart.
An example to show the talent of the makers from this episode. At the end Vision and Agnus have a special moment while Monica has her first confrontation with Wanda. It was all very emotional because of the music and Wanda remembering her brother while singing the lullaby for her kids. Just how that moment is filmed and the result is really great.
I didn't like that the pregnancy was really short and there wasn't much Vision time, but these are writers' decisions. That has nothing to do with the quality, but results for me that I like it less than the previous two episodes.
WandaVision: Don't Touch That Dial (2021)
Episode 2; No words
I didn't like it as much as the first episode, probably because the talent show plot line. At the same time I love the references to sitcoms and other Marvel movies. In the meanwhile we got puzzle pieces for the great mystery!
WandaVision: Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience (2021)
Episode 1; Better than I expected
It's a love letter to TV shows and I love the humor! It was so good and I am excited for the rest of the season. Also I didn't expect Elizabeth Olsen would carry the show like this. She is amazing and so talented!
Death to 2020 (2020)
Fun but too soon
Don't get me wrong I loved watching this, but I think this is too soon. At the same time I hope I will show this to my children and grandchildren some day.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977)
Sweet little movie
It's a really innocent movie, but mostly for children. There isn't much that hits deep for the adults who watch it with the kids. That's not necessarily bad, but if there was I would have given it an higher score. I like the music and the authentic style though. The movie has a couple of stories and I don't like it when a movie does that. In my opinion a movie should be one big story.
Robin Hood (1973)
Would better work as a tv show
Don't get me wrong. I totally get why this movie is iconic for many people, but in my opinion it's not a good movie. It would probably work better as a tv show. It doesn't tell the Robin Hood legend with justice. Robin Hood himself is a very blend character. The animation was fine. The voice acting, soundtrack and animation works good for me.
The story didn't work for me. It was a couple of short stories that ends with a nice final, but the stories itself was boring.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
Star Wars, but not LucasFilm
There was potential to become a great sequel to the original triology, but if a movie leans on the characters who are coming back instead of the lead. It's a failure to me.
I'm new to the Star Wars franchise, so maybe I'm wrong, but this movie didn't feel like LucasFilm. It felt like a Disney sci-fi adventure. It had a really good scene at the end, but also a Disney Channel love/friendship story in the beginning.
I give it a 6/10. It's not bad, but definitely not good.
Soul (2020)
A masterpiece
I can't say a lot about this movie what's not already said and this movie is an experience. You have to see for it for yourself.
I love the vibe, music, casting, the animation and the story. Soul did a better job with showing us how we work than Inside Out. It's shown in a very creative way. For me the story it's the most important thing for a movie. Because it's can look so beautiful, but if the story is bad, it's just bad. Soul has a very good story and I love it for that. The cat storyline is my only critic, but that's just me.
Investors Day 2020 made me realize, the Disney company is going to a new era. Soul is a very good start. I hope Pixar and the Company will follow this route for the coming years. Pixar can be proud on this.
May your lives be jazzed...
Cinderella III: A Twist in Time (2007)
A good time travel story
A Twist in Time showed how much potential Disney Toons could have. It didn't ruined the original, but really supports it. Cinderella was maybe a bit out of character, but I liked this version of her. You can argue her arc was so good that her personality changed. All the other characters were pretty much in character and were more likable. I liked the time travel movie and especially the ending. Everything came together and this movie keeps relevant, because they didn't reset this timeline. I also like it how the villains and the fairy Godmother remember everything, so it keeps the original alive.
Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World (1998)
Unnecessary second midquel
This a movie with a couple bad written shorts. The animation is bad, the stories are bad and the characters are very bad written. Belle is just a crybaby, the Beast is more annoying than usual and the side characters are doing boring things. There's almost no connection with the previous two movies. Besides it just didn't fit with the timeline, we don't need it. It doesn't add something to the story. I also don't like it how they just add more and more new characters. First of all it doesn't make sense, but it's weird the new characters from the second movies do not have a role.
Ratatouille (2007)
A masterpiece
Disney in France has always been an amazing combination, but Pixar mixed with France is maybe even better! Two misfits in the society has to work together to live their dream. It's done with great voice acting and artistic storytelling. Also the visuals are very nice. Like to show us how something tastes. If you haven't watched it yet, you should.
Godmothered (2020)
A bad mix
Godmothered is an interesting take on the Godmother tripe and a Christmas movie. I actually like the Godmother part, but it was a bad idea to make it a Christmas movie. I liked the Disney Animation movie references. I think the acting was just like I expected and the atmosphere was fine. In the end it was just a Disney Plus take on the Netflix knight movies.
Honestly I hoped Elanor got clear redemption for her misstep, but yes it's maybe a too simple movie to do that. Sadly they didn't give us backstory about how the Godmothers forgot their passion for being a Godmother. I think the tone from Raise of the Guardians was better for this movie.
Aladdin (1992)
True masterpiece
The story, the style, the atmosphere, the music and the characters, everything is amazing! I really can't think of something bad. Okay, maybe I don't like the pop culture references, but hey it's a 90s movie, so who cares? Jafar is an amazing, interesting villains with a clear motivation. Aladdin is just a lovable protagonist and Jasmine a great love interest. That makes a lovely couple who I can root for and will defend. The sultan isn't as dumb as I thought he would be. For me he is the main comedic character. The songs feel really special and really add a whole new dimension to the story. The animation is really and fits very well with the atmosphere. The first scene really sets the tone for me. I immediately knew it was going to be good. The story itself is actually really interesting and character driven, but I will never accept Jasmine didn't know about Aladdin until the reveal, but it's probably just me. If you haven't seen it, you should watch it for yourself!
Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas (1997)
Sequel, midquel or special?
Honestly, the sequel or midquel or Christmas special, but still has something to add for the franchise, so it's kinda not a Christmas special or at least shouldn't be... for a cinematic masterpiece wasn't that bad I thought will be. So yes that's kinda a good point at least descent. First of all I don't like Beauty and the Beast, but because of this midquel I kinda like the Beast a bit more, maybe. I really don't know what to think about, sorry. I like they gave us some more background information, but at the same time it makes me a bit confused about the whole timeline and the fact there's another midquel makes me anxious. Oh and why did they introduced a lot of new characters we never knew about. One or two is okay, but we got a bunch of new thing-characters they never mentioned in the original. Also they gave a very fast arc for the Beast, but that doesn't fit in the timeline for me to be honest. In the meanwhile nobody got a real arc. Belle feels like just a side character and the other original characters had the chance to shine again, but nothing really happened. I like villain though, yes he was good, I think? He gave me Disney Villains vibes, but I missed his motivation. The only thing I can think about; He loved the Beast romantically and used him. Yes, okay, I tried to write this review while I'm confused myself. So... thanks for reading.
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Outstanding movie in the MCU
Captain America: Civil War is a true masterpiece! In the light of 2020, it's even better or maybe disappointing. I'm not really sure. This movie has a really good balance between emotional moments and action. All the characters are really good developed and there are a lot good lines. Of course, it's about two sides in the Avengers group. One side who follows the governments of the world and the other side who wants to do what their feelings are saying, but if you look closely it's about a group of friends with different ideas about good and bad. I'm very positive about it and this was my first MCU movie I had ever seen! So this is really iconic for me personally. Why did I say in the light of 2020 it's a bit a point of discussion? Well, Captain America is so good as gone now, but his biggest group of enemies is still not defeated. This is probably his last movie in the Captain America series, so in my opinion it should have happened in this movie. On the other hand it's better with the knowledge of now. Spider-Man and Black Panther have their entrance in the universe. I think the biggest questionable point of this movie is that this movie really can't stand on itself. Almost all the other MCU movies can.
Big Hero 6 (2014)
We took this for granted
A lot of reviewers are very critical about Big Hero 6. "The twist villain is bad written", I agree, but this movie has so much more to offer us! It's based around the trauma, mourning and feelings of revenge from the protagonist, Hiro. I haven't seen a lot of Disney movies who did this the right way. It really shows us; What do I feel and what do I need? What can I do and what would Tadashi has wanted?
Big Hero 6 is set in an utopian futuristic city. It's mixed with Tokyo and San Francisco elements. When you watch the movie, you're able to feel the Californian and Japanese influences. I like all the characters, except for the twist villain. My problem with him is that he is poorly developed. It kinda came out of nowhere. Probably because we hadn't time enough to care about him? Well, although I like all the characters, I think only Hiro and his aunt have a proper arc. The hero team is fun and are good friends, but the movie should have gotten a sequel to make their personalities completer. There's a tv show though, so maybe that works? The movie has also really good visual effects and the animation is beautiful, it fits very well with the story and the atmosphere.
Why do I say "we took this for granted"? I think a lot of people will say this movie is the worst from this Disney Animation era, but I think it's just different and did that very good. It holds up with the Renaissance movies. Big Hero 6 has a lot of emotional moments and a good message for young and old. It's also an adaptation from the Marvel comics, which is very special for Disney. Yes, it has its problems, but so had every movie.
I also recommend the making off. Available in Disney Plus with the movie by extra. That made me love the movie even more!
