Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)
Would have been a decent movie without Chris Rock
Rock trying to be a "serious actor" was just not working. Maybe it's his voice. When he tries to be loud and forceful, all I heard was the same tone he uses in his comedy routines. They should have just left him as a producer, and cast someone else as the lead.
A Glitch in the Matrix (2021)
The Matrix or Philip K. Dick did not create Simulation Theory
I couldn't make it through this garbage. I watched about 10 minutes before it became obvious that the film makers weren't going to give credit where credit is due. Simulation Theory or "Brain in vat" has been around since the days of Descartes. This is definitely not a new concept. Simulation Theory did not come about from our advances in technology. Pure unresearched garbage.
Paranormal Activity 4 (2012)
Still bothered by unanswered questions all these years later.
I recently watched the PA movies again, and this one just bothers me so much. It was decent enough, not as good as the first three, but decent. What bothers me the most is one glaring question, that's never answered.... The big twist is that Wyatt is actually Hunter, not Robbie. Why when Katie killed everyone and kidnapped Hunter, did she give him up for adoption? HUGE plot hole! I need an answer.
Most Dangerous Game (2020)
Nope....
I was excited when I first heard about this. Just watched the trailer since it will be available on the Roku channel this Friday. And it's going to be a hard pass from me. Absolutely loved the short story by Richard Connell, and was really hoping that they were going to keep it like that story, but NO, they have to go and turn it into a modern day piece of crap!
Haunted: Sins of My Father (2021)
Not paranormal....this is mental illness.
It's fairly obvious that both the father and son are suffering from schizophrenia or bipolar with manic tendencies, and trying to explain away their mental illness by claiming to be "haunted by evil for generations".
Baby (2020)
A homage to Guillermo del Toro
A dark fairytale, with beautiful imagery. Don't pay attention to the 1 star review. If you like del Toro, you'll probably like this movie. Those who find it boring, have the attention span of a peanut, and no appreciation for artful films. True, it may not be for everyone, because it's not spelled out for you, and with there being no dialogue, you need to pay attention to the details, but it is a good film. You should broaden your scope, and watch it with an open mind.
Tiny Pretty Things (2020)
Watch for the dancing, not the acting....
The acting and story lines were atrocious, but the dancing was beautiful. It was enough to force myself to watch til the end, just to see the dancing.
Blood Vessel (2019)
Basically a rip-off of The Strain
I was enjoying it until the vampires were introduced, and then it was like watching a B rated movie version of The Strain.
Rebecca (2020)
Boring and unconvincing.
Don't waste your time with this movie. Your time would be better spent reading the amazing and unforgettable book by Daphne du Maurier, or watch the 1940's movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
Light as a Feather: ...Lost as Eden (2019)
Don't pay attention to sanclan's 1 star review....
They're obviously homophobic, and a pathetic, sad, and horrible person.
The Cleansing Hour (2019)
Waste of time and money to make this movie....
I had the pleasure of seeing the award winning short film that this movie is based on, at the 2016 Milwaukee Film Festival. And yes, the movie was awesome, with a great ending. I feel that the whole story was told and there was nothing more to add. It seems like a waste of time and money to make a full length feature that isn't going to add anything to the story.
