End It Well
16 May 2023
Watched every episode. 2 episodes left to wrap this up. S4 seems to have episodes that contain far too much filler, even though it is still very well done. Smoke and mirrors that leaves me wishing for less cutesy business slang and choppy scenes & camera work, and more A-List drama. Still, it has all the elements that i really like about this show, but reminds one that a good read/good watch must have a good ending to be fulfilling. Recommend to family and friends, especially for the powerhouse roles that have been filled by those well over 60yrs old. Excellent! With all the good to Great series to come out of the top cable & streaming, it just seems HBO absolutely nails it, over and over. Here's to this one finishing strong.

OG Gone Stale
27 February 2023
Waaaay back in 1980 i spent an entire month in the lower level bedroom (first of four storeys) of a hollywood hills estate. Just off sunset plaza drive. Full size pool out back on the level portion of the lot, along with a pool house. Orange trees, flowering bushes, snails, all exotic to my young Pac Nor West eyes. Had helped a friend in a serious jam, and his uncle (real uncle) invited the two of us down for an extended holiday. Could not swim in the pool as the uncle wanted it and surrounding areas kept dry and spotless, for those in "the industry". They visited after answering an ad in some hollywood movie industry weekly, regarding a script reading and then were given a sales pitch for representation. Couple actors he represented made brief B Movie careers. Honest, not making it up. Remember it well even after all these years. It is a heck of an area. Hollywood hills and all the surrounding ritzy enclaves that MDLLA sells. Have driven through 2 or 3 times since while on so cal sightseeing trips. Regarding this show (six hundred characters met, yikes?) i had no idea how much i would miss james and david. This season is still better than most if not all other similar shows, because they still focus on Real Estate. But it is just not as good as past seasons. Inbred comes to mind, as i do not have a big vocabulary. Need the palate cleanser that another agent or two could provide. And james and david did that and more. IF i could afford to buy where they sell, i would absolutely 100% trust the Agents in this show to find my new home (Flagg especially). That's why this show is the OG, and still worth a watch.

Zombie Convert
10 February 2023
Had a little time to kill and while surfing streaming services and took a chance on this one. I have always disliked most any zombie flick or shows. Zombieland back when being a notable excepton. But that was just for fun, this show asks you take it seriously. Very serious. Pedro Pascal sells it, at least for me. 4 episodes in, now look forward to next weekend and next episode. I am always wondering what Ellie is going to do. The long game i mean. Don't know the story, as i do not game. Not gonna dig and find it. Will let the show stand on its own and make up my mind later. Looking forward to Ep 5 in a couple days.

Warning: Spoilers
I was hooked within 15 seconds of the first episode. Never tired of that intro throughout the two seasons. What a show. What a show of talent. Then add Meryl Streep in season 2. Not just thrown into the mix, but all her talent on display. WOW. Then season 2 gives us....... Voodoo. Who the *#@! Thought up that bomb? WOW. Watched both seasons, twice.

If I Liked It So Will You
12 July 2021
Did not go to see this when it was in theaters because before watching i was uncomfortable with the subject matter. Felt the same but just during the early portion of the movie when watching at home over a year later. I really like a good indy-type film. That's what this was to me. It is also one hell of a movie. VERY well done.

Very watchable and well done flick. It was a good watch and an easy recommendation. Movies like this do sometimes make me ponder, are there any people in the world, except for a tiny fraction, that are not marginalized or oppressed?

Pretty Good

Was not aware of this one. Found it on Prime. Was really enjoying this - a pleasant surprise - until the last 10 or 15 minutes. I got lost there at the end.

Catchy Title
12 July 2021
Lifetime PNW'er, so the title caught my eye, then the short synopsis seemed promising. Really liked the filming locations, would have liked to have seen them even more than we did. For those reasons i found it was watchable. Not trying to be mean or negative, but you do not have to look too hard to find a better movie.

Milk That Gravy Train
8 July 2021
They have taken a well past it's prime program and turned it into a parody. The current "Alton's Maniacal Baskets" driving this home, in spades. Overall though it is hard to knock this sweet and kind show regardless of my personal dislike of it's recent execution.

Not My Cup Of Historical Tea
3 November 2020
This wasn't very good. the english dubbing was particularly bad. took away from a show that didn't have any room for takeaways. would have been better to just listen to them speak whatever language(s), then use english subtitles. the Seeress Runa & our heroine Thusnelda's little brother were both totally cringe-worthy characters every second they were on screen. yikes. interesting historical event they were trying to portray though. watchable enough that i got through it, but still most of the time was chuckling to how bad it was.

Season 8 - Awful Beginning, Good Ending
9 October 2020
This season showed how tough it was to replace the screen time that had been previously taken up by the Liz & Rita. i hadn't realized how strong their characters resonated with me. Allie was a caricature, a joke, until the last 2-3 episodes. strong ending, but just took forever to finally get good this season. before that i was thinking please just end it, but, when Season 9 pops up on Netflix I'll be there.

Well Done
8 November 2019
A very well done film. not an "instant classic", but 100% watchable from first scene to ending credits. Cynthia Erivo pulls it off like an old pro. really the acting is fine all around. that speaks to the Director too. kudos to Kasi Lemmons for that, and making this a flick that could be a First Date choice. they could have gone a Tarantino - 12 Years a Slave hybrid direction but chose not to. makes it too "soft" for some, but again, kudos to Kasi Lemmons. if you're in middle or high school it's worth standing in line for. if you're not, this one may not be an absolute must see, but DO check it out later on streaming, etc., if not at the theater.

Just WOW
17 October 2019
Those of us who follow Joaquin Phoenix aren't at all surprised by this powerful performance. 122 minute run time felt like 80-90. rare feat! to those who say the story speaks of America today, instead of being just a movie, i submit; 1.) when did you last receive a paycheck from a poor man? 2.) Arthur Fleck should have been apprehended at an earlier age, sedated, had his organs harvested then given to those at the top of the organ transplant waiting lists. regardless of how they got to the top. the remains humanely disposed of, of course. THE END

A for Effort
4 October 2019
Just before the ending credits was a scene in a fancy high rise apartment, with all 4 major players smiling and dancing. but other than that, Blake Lively exuded more femininity in 5 minutes on that rock in "The Shallows" than the entire ensemble in this one. feminine does not = weak. i get strong, but it needs to be better done. Constance Wu was miscast as can be. this is not a "bad" movie, but didn't quite measure up to expectations the critic reviews put out there. major kudos for hair past the ears, makeup, nails and toes done, dresses, heels, and i assume, perfume. if you see this film looking for nudity, especially JLo and Constance Wu, you may be as disappointed as me. :) i didn't rate any lower for that, honest! gonna be a GREAT rental - streamer!

Hillbilly Heaven

Warning: Spoilers
Watched this one at the theater then again this evening at home. I thought the same of this movie both viewings. A pleasure to watch, from first scene to the last. It is a story of a divorced fathers love for his beautiful little daughter, and what he is willing to do to continue to visit her on his terms. If this one doesn't put a big smile on your face, then we agree to disagree...just like divorced people. :)

Not as Bad as Critics Claim
16 February 2017
First installment was a better movie than this one. Had not planned to see that first one after the awful reviews, but it happened. Not anywhere as bad as all the Pros said, I thought at the time. So wanted to see "Darker". I'm not seeing the filth, degradation, etc., that some do. 100% "R", yes, but no "X" at all. I think they tried pretty hard to make that happen, and got it done. Maybe too hard, as the whitewashing keeps the "why" of the male leads, um, condition, a continuing mystery. A for effort, but certainly nothing to stand in line for a ticket! Not as bad as critics claim, but an average sequel at very best.

Manchester By The Sea
3 January 2017
This is not a movie for everyone. The critical acclaim would suggest otherwise. This is one of those times when following the critics will let some of us down. The soundtrack breaks in jarringly, at the wrong time? Over and over.. Also, opposite of that, a lot of the scenes are the "no background music" type, and they are like watching normal everyday people - boring everyday people - go about their business. Then it shows "out the moving car window" scenery over and over... If you like road trips AND are familiar with where it was filmed, that's awesome as H E Double Toothpicks. 95.9999% of us do not know where it is. Lots of moviegoers won't care for it, overall. I did, through the flaws, with little problem. The acting, from EVERYONE, along with the underlying story, once revealed, redeem this movie. How many Actors (Male) do an Oscar-caliber, or almost Oscar-caliber job of emotionally exploding and breaking stuff, then maybe a tear or two, etc. Casey Affleck takes that, and without even saying a word, or breaking any objects or whatever, elevates it to the stratosphere. Amazing. If he does not win the Oscar, then we moviegoers got extremely lucky with some other incredible Male Lead performance to enjoy at the movies this Year!

Not bad. R rating deserved
22 January 2007
Read what reviews I could find, decided to give it a try. Thought it was 50/50 whether it would be any good. Not bad at all. The first few minutes I thought to myself the acting wasn't so good, and the movie was going to be a dud. I ate my bucket of popcorn, paid attention to the screen, and do not regret going to see this movie. The kid who got kidnapped was played/acted real good. The guy who played his older brother did a fine job. If I've seen him before I didn't recognize him. Timberlake was OK. No Oscar, but maybe 2/3 of the way through the movie, I knew him as his character, not Timberlake. I always disliked him a ton. Then watched Saturday Night Live a couple weeks ago. Still don't like his music and tattoos, but that dude is a star. Period! I haven't partied in 25 years, and didn't think the drinking and sex in this movie was anything like what some of the negative reviews, and even some positive reviews spoke about. It was an important part of the story, and well done. Good movie.

Just Watched it Again
21 September 2006
Watched this movie when it was first released on VCR. Some of the action blew me away. (Have seen it maybe 6 times or so since) Also remember I was expecting a dumb teenager movie. I am a couple weeks shy of 50 and just watched it again tonight. Keanu Reeves holds his own, and then some. Critically speaking, a few scenes are pretty bad (to me they are bad, like 'F___, why can't I say what I really mean!, or 'Man, this is harder then I thought',etc, etc). Pretty corny stuff. But, that's just a very small portion of the movie. Mostly, he (K.R.)does just fine. Patrick Swayze is great! I like this movie better today then the first couple times I watched it, and see much more than just Action scenes. How ever they make the end product we call movies, they put this one together real good!
