Too Old to Die Young (2019)
How did you make it past first 30mins?
I really wanted to watch this.
I avoided reading about it in order not to have expectations.
The only thing I figured out before watching is that "it's not for everyone" but also, that it's really good and appreciated by many.
Sorry folks, but I didn't make it to the end of first episode. Too slow, too boring. I waited for it, and waited, but I just couldn't any more.
The first 30min could have been first 5mins, and then maybe, I'd keep watching.
I turned it off before the end of episode one, and just before giving up completely, I decided I'd just give second episode a try - hoping the pace might be better and then I might get back to finish the first one, but it starts equally slow, and that was just it.
I guess I'll never know what I missed :)
Fatherhood (2021)
If you miss it, you won't miss anything.
It's not really a bad movie, it's just that it's unoriginal, and slow at times.
The annoying thing is Kevin Hart's phisique. I understand he works hard for it and he is proud of it, but he is supposed to be a single father with a baby in this movie. He is sleep deprived, but he looks as if he just finished workout all the time? (We don't see it in the movie, but his shirts won't allow you miss it)
Put that aside, it's a story told many times in different movies and different languages and it doesn't bring anything new to it.
Kevin Hart tries to show he is more than just a stand up comedian, but he forgets phisique is as important as the tears.
Unhinged (2020)
30yr old mother with 16yr old son?
Only in Hollywood,.
I started this movie, and as soon as I realized it has 30 years old actress portraiting a mother of a 16 years old boy, I gave up.
As if it's not enough to have photoshopped models everywhere??!!
How could this possibly be convincing movie???
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
The most overrated film I've seen
It's not bad for a comic book to movie film, but, seriously folks, This is a joke. Re-added scenes to "catch" Titanic? Get serious! Titanic is an absolute masterpiece compared to this. Too many 'analytic' reviwes already here, so I won't go into details, but this is just nowhere near the hype it got.
Outlander (2008)
Who needs a spoiler?
Come on! It's one of the most predictable movies I've seen. 95% of the story is predictable. The other 5 isn't just because you think it can't be that predictable. I've looked at my watch every 20-ish minutes, and wondered "what next" only because it was still long way to go (I knew how long the movie is) and I just couldn't believe it's gonna be that simple.
"It" wants revenge, he wants revenge. "It" is the last of it's kind, he lost his family - "It" killed them. "It" strong, he weak. "It" has a baby (remember Godzilla?), he meets and likes an orphan kid. Their weapon is not good enough, he thinks of better one. She is dead. Oh, no, wait, she isn't... Helloooo??
The only original idea is that he brought "it". I guess my high expectations were due to relatively high ratings here on IMDb (6.8 at the time). I can give it only 4, and even that is just because it's technically and visually good. To that, I'll add decent cast and actors' performance, but that's it.
Harrison's Flowers (2000)
An awfully one-sided story destroys a rather good movie
I hardly ever watch movies with ex-Yugoslavia war theme. I know they are always one-sided, and somehow I thought this one would be different. I was wrong.
While it rather nicely portrays horrors of war, why does it have to be only one side in the war that does wrong, awful things. There are quite a lot of American movies showing Americans doing horrible things in wars, but when the Serbs are around, nobody else is bad. I'm far from saying Serbs did nothing wrong, but, has any of Hollywood filmmakers ever did any actual research before making a movie about war in ex-Yugoslavia?? There is a moment in this movie when Brody says something like "there are no good and bad guys here, they're all the same" and it gave me hope that I've actually chosen a decent movie. However, just a bit later I was proved wrong... Awful!
