Knock at the Cabin (2023)
Predictable
I haven't liked any of his movies since Signs. They are either boring, slow, or make me regret wasting my time. This one was predictable, no twists. The tsunami scene was not even scientifically accurate. You know the ending already and just have to sit through a lot of flashbacks and dialog just waiting for it to end. I was hoping there would be a good twist or unexpected ending but nope. Just happens the way you think it will. Towards the end I was really hoping they just let the planet burn because that would have at least been a dramatic ending. Good thing I have the movie theater frequent viewer program so I didn't really pay to see it. Was just part of my movie allowance for the month.
It's a Sin (2021)
Something everyone needs to see.
I was a teenager in the late 80s/90s and was scared to death to be gay and to have anyone find out. There was/is so much hatred in the world and so many people died of AIDS for no reason other than the hate in people's hearts. I listened as my religious family cheered AIDS for "cleansing" the world. So much hatred. So much misinformation. A stigma that to this day still exists.
This show reminds us how strong the LGBTQ+ community has always been and will continue to be.
If you want to laugh, to cry, to remember, and to understand, watch this show. It is well written and well acted. I wish it was more than 5 episodes, but in a way, the shortness of the show is ironically symbolic of the speed at which so many lives ended.
Spoiler Alert (2022)
First movie in my 49 years that I cried at
I let the tears stream down nearly the whole second half. Was an amazing movie. It was funny, beautiful, sad, and relevant. I recently ended a 15 year relationship with my ex and even though my ending was not the same as Michael and Kit's. It really allowed me to grieve again and know that I will be ok. Sadly, it is only playing in just a few theaters in Atlanta, which is typical for a LGBTQIA+ movie. But it really isn't a queer movie. It really does show that love has ups and downs, and sometimes love itself really doesn't care who you are, it slaps you in the face anyway. The story could be anyone's story and that is where it's strength lies. It is a story of us, all of us, who have loved and lost for whatever reason.
Spoilers:
It was so relevant to me that in the scene where Michael and Kit are in the bed for the first time, Michael doesn't want his shirt removed. We have already seen Michael's early life and know that he was a big boy. When Michael stopped kit from removing his shirt, I immediately knew why before the character explained he was a FFK. I was a big boy and still am. Even though it was only a few lines of dialog and never came up again, I really connected with that moment.
I think there will be a lot of people who will relate to Michael's story, the real Michael. I'm glad such a beautiful, painful, and important story was told and shared.
Crimes of the Future (2022)
Waste of my time.
I honestly don't understand why people got sick at the Sundance showing (or whichever film festival it was). The movie is pointless and doesn't have much of a plot. It is clearly just a performance piece that tries really hard to have a story but fails.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness (2021)
I have been waiting forever for this....
Which is forever and a day too long. Did the animators quit early on or something or did they just run out of money to pay them?
This is so painful to watch.
Them (2021)
Excellent
It's very good. Acting is fantastic. It makes you uncomfortable in a social awakening kind of way. That is probably why people are rating it so low; it is making people face some inner things they aren't liking.
Sputnik (2020)
Good movie
But I don't understand why people are comparing it
to Alien. There is no comparison...far from one.
Central Park (2020)
hate it
First of all, I do not like the animation style of Bob's Burgers. I don't know why, it just really irritates me. i have tried watching it several times and can't even get into the story because of the style. I was willing to look past the style for Central Park. I am glad to say the animation style isn't irritating me, it is the singing that is. I stopped watching halfway through the second episode.
