The Call (2020)
Avoid
How are such movies even made and get a theatrical release? I refuse to believe that no one along the way pointed out that this is a complete mess.
The Color Rose (2020)
Poor.
Why would anyone spend money and effort on brilliant cinematography and creating an atmosphere but give no thought about story, plot and screenplay?
The Bay of Silence (2020)
A Joke and a prank on audiences.
Firstly, when you make a movie trailer that is totally different from the movie then your intentions are not honest. The movie has sub-plots with no connection or bearing at all to the main plot or climax of the movie, as if they were put in there to fill up time. Whole scenes that are totally irrelevant to the main plot or climax.
It seems as if mid way the producers changed their minds about the movies plot and climax but due to filming constraints kept some of the scenes to make up the running time. This is what I believe actually happened, it is not uncommon it happens in the movie industry a lot due to various reasons. The audience getting cheated of in the process is of course another matter.
Cape Fear (1991)
Childish and unbelievable.
Martin Scorcese's name made me see the movie after watching the 1962 original. The incredibly silly script, poor direction, incredulous action scenes plus I daresay poor acting from every one, with DeNiro as the worst. The dialogue is unintentionally funny at times which is the hallmark of a bad movie. If anyone other than Scorcese had directed the movie it would have had a 2-star rating. This movie is an example of how a gripping story can be turned into a poor movie.
The Lighthouse (2019)
William Dafoe outstanding as usual. A film for a niche audience.
There are many reviews criticizing the movie for having no plot or story but there is one hidden away if you hear the dialogues and watch attentively. The film doesn't follow the usual Hollywood formula so that perhaps explains the disappointment of some people. It takes gut to produce such a film in this day and age or comic book franchises , hats off to the production team. At the cost of sounding snobbish I will repeat what I said in the title, a film for a niche audience not for everyone.
Scarface (1983)
Poor
Badly written and poorly directed. What surprises me is that this film is quoted as one of the best film ever made in Hollywood.
Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)
Insults the audience
The simplest truths are the greatest. To have a good movie you need a good script, this movie doesn't. The writer director expected audiences to like this movie, that is the bigger mystery. This shows utter contempt for audiences.
