L'envahisseur (2011)
I recommend it
It was on TV late night. Although I missed big portions in the beginning of the movie, it was so intense I had to watch it again fully.
The movie is about an African immigrant living and working illegally in Belgium. He is given shelter and work by a; what i assume to be a trafficker of some sort. He has a friend also from Africa: Sioka who is ill and bedridden.
Things turn from bad to worse for our protagonist when his boss gets sick and tired of his friend Sioka laying around unproductive. The movie touches the hardship many illegals face, the rough life of being caught between the gray areas of society. Although in my opinion the ending didn't feel like one, I didn't really understand it. Thus for me, it wasn't really a satisfying one.
Yes, the soundtrack is fitting, I thoroughly enjoyed it . it wouldn't do you justice to explain it all in depth. I only recommend you to watch it and find out yourself.
This movie is that and more. I give it a 7/10
The Following (2013)
Wasted potential
A friend of mine highly recommended this show. Well, the first episode captivated him greatly. It was available on Netflix, so I started watching. I'm now on episode 7 and lord, it's frustrating trying to accept the pathetic plot.
To begin, the cast is great. I really enjoyed seeing Billy Brown, I missed him as a detective since Dexter; sadly they had to De-dexter him again. It was painful and pretty stupid mind you.
As I said before, I have had my fill after episode 7. I can suspend my belief for so long but this show really pushes it. I wonder how Joe was able to recruit so many "acolytes" behind bars. I can buy him being a charismatic leader, but good lord, watching him talk in all those flashbacks just makes me roll my eyes. Is it the acting, maybe the way the story is written? It's ust bland. And all this because of Edgar AllanPoo? That murder is beautiful?
Yes, indeed they're a lot of crazy people out there who do things for the dumbest of reasons. But someone behind bars is able to recruit how many? about 9 people and he was able to convince to commit murder, because what? murdering beautiful women is the ultimate (insert Edgar Allan Poo nonsense here) Then we have the FBI which at every turn doesn't disappoint: failure at every corner. God help the United States if this is even remotely how they they really are.
Anyway, all this things aside. This show had potential, it could have been very mature, very plausible and it would have many people glued to every episode, well at least me. But it failed at that. Maybe the writers wrote themselves inside a hot furnace and the door handle has melted shut. I suggest they marvel at what's about to happen: their death.
It is weird and grossly offensive to even assume a death row inmate is getting unsupervised visits from his groupies. It is even more insulting to assume all those groupies were not documented as visitors. I mean why they do even have Ryan on the case? Seeing as how Joe the serial killer (pathetic killer) is targeting Ryan every chance he gets, I think it would be best if he's taken out of the case. It would help ruin Joe's nonsensical plan. I also have to ask, how did the fat prison guard enter Joe's ex-wife's house? And why in the world is she still at that place when her son is kidnapped? Never mind that, why is the FBI so incompetent? Again never mind, it's a bad show. Wasted potential.
