The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)
A movie with a purpose.
The setting of the movie was beautiful, the cinematography knew how to capture the characters emotions and the mood of every situation. The story talks about loneliness and it's dangers. What it is like to feel like an outsider, almost every character in the movie tasted the bitterness of loneliness. Although in my opinion colm's wishes to be left alone were reasonable and should have been respected by the main character even though it was a harsh thing to hear. I didn't agree with most of the protagonist's choices, I think that he completely disregarded his friend's wishes even after he cut his own fingers off to show him how serious he is about the matter; the protagonist did not obey and only stopped persuading him after his donkey died after eating one of the friend's fingers (come to think of it, colm wouldn't have cut his fingers off in the first place if the protagonist respected his decision and didn't bother him). Brendan's acting was really good and Barry's acting was amazing. Cinematography: 8.5. Acting: 9. Screenplay:8.
Tár (2022)
Successful movie.
The acting is more than amazing, I enjoyed the storyline; I had a love/hate relationship with the main character Lydia. The movie targeted many issues that we as a society face today in such a smooth manner. I also loved the cinematography, the movie had many creative and expressive shots and scenes. The music was great, overall it was a success, great acting, great cinematography, and an amazing storyline. I love how the character was introduced to us as an amazing and flawless composer; almost made us fall in love with her, only to realise later on that she had been hiding her flaws and it was about time that we as an audience discover them. Cinematography:7.5 acting:9 storyline:9.
Do Revenge (2022)
I dont know how to feel about this movie.
I have a love/hate relationship towards this movie. This is almost a 2022 version of mean girls; i like that they shed light on the new "mean" people, who look and speak very charismatically and play the role of the good guy to fit in and get the approval they seek from others. Now, what i did not like was the acting, it was poor and lacking. I also didn't enjoy the fast pace of the movie; one moment they are enemies and the next moment they are best friends again and the entire revenge plan is thrown. Overall i cannot say it was a bad movie, but it was lacking logical progress and some good acting skills.
Cinematography: 7/10
Acting: 5/10
Storyline:6/10.
Kissing Jessica Stein (2001)
The movie is okay.
I wasnt really expecting much from this movie as it had been filmed in 2001, based on that information the ending is not so disappointing. Yes i felt disappointed by the ending however the movie is not recent, if it had been filmed in 2022 then yes i would have an issue with its ending; I'm just glad that there were any movies that shed some light on LGBTQ+ characters and their lives. The acting was just okay, nothing great honestly except for the scene where jessica and her mother share a heart to heart conversation before the wedding, the woman who played jessica's mother is an amazing actress. Overall the storyline is good enough, cinematography is also good. Acting= 6/10. Storyline= 7/10 cinematography= 6/10.
A League of Their Own (2022)
In love with this series.
I enjoyed every second of this series (which is not a common thing for me to say). The series discussed several issues during that time period but still kept its light hearted humorous spirit throughout it. In my opinion, this is one of the best television series i've watched in 2022. Highly recommended.
Harley Quinn (2019)
Clever writing. In love with the series.
Im in love with this series. Im not even a big fan of comics, marvel ect. But I enjoyed every bit of this series. Everything is so clever, the comedy and the character development especially; and i've been enjoying season 3 the most.
Betty (2020)
light show with specific vibe.
Enjoyed: 1. The authenticity of each character, they did not seem like they are even acting.
2. Happy endings and the optimism the show holds. 3. The free spirited vibe. 4.the cinematography and editing.
Did not enjoy: 1.lack of direction, the show was basically aimless, i was confused watching it. 2. Zero to little character development; maybe a few developments but overall it lacks any kind of development.
Summerland (2020)
Hopeful movie.
I love everything about this movie. Its amazing visually, and the acting is great. The story is very interesting with a plot twist that you wouldnt see coming (at least i didnt). I love how the pace in which the story unfolds, at first we see a grumpy old woman and the story begins with a throw back and then we see her remembering things that previously happened also (within the throw back). I love the happy ending although im not a big fan of happy endings as i think they are unrealistic, however the ending in this story fit perfectly and since the story is so unique the ending did not feel mediocre or boring.
Cracks (2009)
Nice complex story but missing a few things.
I loved the complexity of the character miss G; however the obsession she had for tiama was too quick to be believable and i wish they told us more about her backstory and why she is the way she is; i noticed that outside the school or her students she is a completely different person maybe even with social anxiety. Overall the movie is not a bad one i just feel that it is overly dramatic and exaggerated.
Fatherhood (2021)
Nothing unexpected.
The story talks about the struggle of being a single father and how unlike the mothers, fathers are not very gifted with intuition. I personally found this movie a little boring as i have already predicted what would happen as the movie progressed; nothing surprised me. This movie may be helpful to someone relating to the protagonist ( a single father).
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
Love the concept and graphics.
I really love the realism that they have portrayed about our humanity today and its lack if trust for one another and how this has led to the corruption of literally everything. The ending sends an amazing message and keeps one thinking about what could happen if trust was given to everyone and them being actually trustable. Disney is not just for kids.
The L Word (2004)
A must watch
I love everything about this series. The character development and and for some the lack of development, it is well directed. The actors are incredible as well, everything about this series is perfect.
The Wilds (2020)
Enjoyed watching it
Really interesting series with many plot twists and surprises. I personally enjoyed watching it. Highly recommended if you love drama.
