Anger Management (2003)
I can't think of a single reason to recommend this film
This is simply a terrible movie. It sits in a limbo between comedy and drama where it's got neither. There's no point. The storyline is riddled with completely unbelievable events. Outside of John C. Reilly, none of the side characters offer anything entertaining. The main couple has no chemistry. Halfway through the movie, I thought to myself, "Alright, now the comedy will begin," and it never came until maybe the final scene of the movie. Just don't watch this movie. It's not even 1 star "haha, stupid Adam Sandler movie" bad, it's bad to the point where it offers nothing.
Waterworld (1995)
It's not worth the novelty viewing
Let me preface my review by saying that Kevin Costner is very strong in this one. Without his very solid performance, I'm turning the movie off halfway through.
I wanted to like this movie. I came into it with an open mind, thinking the concept was cool, thinking the massive budget would at least keep it afloat (pun intended), and I figured worst case scenario, I'd be able to say that I saw it. 135 minutes later, I regret that decision. For anyone considering it because, "It can't be that bad," just please, find a movie that is actually highly acclaimed. Based on positive reviews that I'm seeing, I think it has some cult fans because of its "Mad Max on the ocean" vibe, but Mad Max puts this movie to shame.
Outside of Costner, this movie has no soul. It is plagued by bad everywhere else. Deacon looks evil, but he's just not interesting enough to truly hate his guts. The villains in general just suck at being villains. Every time there's a close call, there's just no reason for the viewer to believe that there's any chance a main character dies. They rely on kids cartoon level failures by villains in crucial moments, it feels like you're watching Wiley Coyote in the most important scenes in the film. Even worse, they try to hide the lack of exciting action scenes with terribly corny classical background music that just saps any suspense out of the scene.
I would compare this film to Star Wars Episode I, it's that boring, with that bad of acting and storytelling, except it doesn't have a highly popular series behind it to save it from being remembered poorly. It is visually interesting sometimes, and Costner does save it from being a even worse than it already is, but this movie just floats in limbo. It's certainly not good enough to enjoy, and it's not bad enough for you to watch it and laugh at the failure that is Waterworld. It's just dull to the core. Please spare yourself the time.
