Best lines I have seen
14 June 2022
Dialogue Shea-Elsa has the best and most emotional lines I ever seen on screen. Everything is good and grand in this show: scenery, cinematography, script, acting, story.

Recital John Bell
14 June 2022
Powerful recital of John Bell. Very emotional episode, with great music accompanying the love story Ian-Emily. Interesting character development and excellent one-on-one dialogues Ian-Jamie.

Splendid!
14 June 2022
Excellent episode, heavy loaded, mature. A joy to watch and process the action and the emotions. It leaves the audience with a cliffhanger (although we all know that Claire wont die). Much praised chemistry between Cait and Sam is in full force.

Utter disappointment
13 January 2021
Period dramas are my favorite type of show-movie-film-book-etc. Bridgerton turned out to by only a display of luxurious costumes and house settings - one of those cheap stories with no spice. I tried 3 times to go past the 3rd episode and succeeded only the 4th time. It gets a bit better in the second half, when I thought there was finally something to happen. I accepted the the shock of "wokeness" - black aristocracy and queen, contemporary music and in balls - rand hoped it could be fun and diverse. It wasnt. A good story, good dialogues, good acting could have made an interesting approach for the inclusiveness/diversity concept. They didnt exist.

Weird parody
13 January 2021
I love period dramas and had great expectations, especially after reading comparisons with Downton Abbey. Never had such a disappointment. Ridiculous writing, bad acting, no musical connection.

Too predictable
13 January 2021
Same note - great costumes and indoor settings ant that's all about it. I tried and tried to connect with something meaningful. Even an obsolete storyline like this could become successful if it is give good acting, good music, good flavor. None of those happened. The Duke tries the to keep the dignified posture and stiffness one expects from a British aristocrat, and then he makes awkward faces and pops out his eyes, cannot control his lips while speaking and his tiny body movements while standing. The speech given to the queen lacks substance and acting. Broken chemistry between the 2 lovers is evident. The Queen acts like a common gossiping woman.

Sex saved it all
13 January 2021
If it wasnt for the love scenes, it would be nothing of it. No real erotic tension, no romantic lines, no humor, no meaningful connection. Just sex.

Good promise, but...
13 January 2021
Good promise to spice up the show a bit with some variation from the usual soap that goes through the storyline. Eventually, it was the same luxurious costumes put on weak characters. Wasnt convinced at all by acting.

Soapy ending
13 January 2021
This show got better in the second half and gave the impression that it could become meaningful. A soapy ending just made it as cheap as it looked in most other episodes.

Excellent
8 November 2020
After Outlander I had a hard time liking anything. But this show got me back into watching - and binging. Captivating, well acted, well written - without being adventurous, without sex or a great love story, manages to captivate. At a closer look, the outdated cliche of an American competing with a Russian endangers a bit the show, but fortunately the trap of overinflating that cliche was avoided.

Another piece of art
20 August 2020
S5 got in the pattern of delivering high art, and this episode is a jewel. The one-on-one between Roger and Ian is in line with all other powerful and intense one-on-ones in S4 and S5. An episode that encompasses beautifully the whole paradigm of Outlander: love beyond life, love beyond time, the power to fight for love, the power to resurrect from ashes. The metaphor of the paper airplane is brilliant beyond words. As are the black-and-white flashes.

Art at its best
19 August 2020
Another piece of art in Season 5! Well written and intense dialogues, requiring the best performance from all actors involved. The wild love scene in the stable is the best acted love scene I've seen in any show. Rarely have I seen so many intense one-on-one scenes like in this episode, Season 5 seems to be a big promise on that (Season 4 was excelling too, so far).

Getting better and better
19 August 2020
Excellent acting performance, marvelous sample of Claire-Jamie working together. Well written dialogues (all season 5 keeps on adding into the character building and deeply meaningful dialogues that started in Season 4). The show becomes more and more artistic, in all honesty detrimental for viewers who prefer the commercial crazy adventurous action in Season 1-2-3. Too subtle for viewers who cannot see beyond the screen.

Gratuitous bad language all over, over-acting, weak plot line. Had a very hard time watching first half of ep 1, no desire to watch further.

Superb
23 June 2020
A complete show that offers a lot: diverse stories, memorable scenes, memorable lines, mesmerizing music, gorgeous scenery, fantastic costumes, inspiration, challenges beyond screen, history, adventures, mistique, subtle plots (connected across seasons, need to pay a lot of attention to connect dots). Above all, there is an intense love story benefiting from unique and magic chemistry between the lead actors. All of these make an addictive show that you want to watch over and over, despite a few flaws (some inconsistencies of the story lines, some rushed plot lines, some people debate on sex scenes and rape tropes, or brute violence). Acting is getting better as seasons progress, reaching high class levels in Season 5. Characters develop nicely, from the passion of the first 2 seasons to maturity and complexity in Seasons 4 and 5. A unique show with unique capacity to create a diversity of emotions and convey them, making the viewers part of the action. A true masterpiece in a superior league.

Ordinary show
23 June 2020
A second class show, really good in that league because of some good captivating plots and alertness.Nothing else to extract from it. Good to watch when you want to spend mediocre quality time just because you are not in the mood for a better activity. Acting is average (big awards for this????), with some peaks here and there, emotions are not conveyed beyond screen (though close to that in a few exceptions), no challenge to your mind, no inspirational subjects.

Finally the plot is on to something promising. Nothing more to really find in this show, would prefer to re-watch some Mission Impossible or some Jason Stratan fights.

Weird plot line
23 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I gave it a 7 because how it conveyed emotions and for the height of suspense. Otherwise, the plot line is weak though alert pace was captivating. Acting is worse and worse, I dont understand how Claire Danes got awarded for this show (show is also too weak to be rewarded that way, it has no appeal, no inspiration, no music, no costumes, no decors - just regular Sunday afternoon easy binge watching to pass time).

Powerful
23 June 2020
Powerful and emotional, a bit more of character development. Episode strikes again - this time more smoothly - with the first "I love you" from Claire and another sweet loving moment between Claire and Jamie. Addition of Jenny is absolutely fantastic, with a lot of joyous acting from her. Interesting to see evolution of characters, something that has been quite rare in the midst of fast adventures in other episodes.

Exciting and captivating, well done in suspense. In the end, nothing more than a thriller - nothing really memorable. An 8 for the plot line, enough for a non-re-watchable episode - and show.

Same cliches
22 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Same dated cliche as in any other movie or show on a similar subject. An excellent show at the top of deja-vu mediocrity range. Captivating to watch. However it leaves me with nothing memorable.

As good as the whole season
20 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A finale in tone with the season - an excellent thriller at the top of a second rate league. Good to watch, even captivating, but once you turn the TV off there is nothing memorable. Any James Bond or Mission Impossible movie was better than any episode of Homeland. Acting is praised in reviews and it is good enough for that, but I find it exaggerated. I wonder why so many big awards for a non-memorable modest show.
