Good Job (2022)
Good leads can't save lazy and misogynistic scriptwriting and direction
Leads who also acted in Bossam have great chemistry but even Kwon YuRi who's very cute couldn't save her very annoying character (and it's not her acting but what the script made her do - lots of stupid stuff making her seem not very bright) and the second female lead is very irritating. Lazy and misogynistic scriptwriting with too many contrived situations/solutions, like a taxi just appearing for the heroine to catch and chase the gangsters who've abducted the hero. And the taxi driver chasing them down like a pro racer...in ep8. Also why for the life of me did the heroine not call her brother, the cop, the moment the chairman (hero) got abducted?
The best thing though are their various "undercover" disguises which were good and rather funny - probably the best scenes in the series. The first 3 episodes are a lot of fun because of the many disguises but it's all downhill after that. Only Jung IlWoo and Kwon Yuri's chemistry made it bearable to watch until the end.

Happiness is for those who like watching paint dry
Full of plot holes and characters that do things that make no sense. The female lead who works in counter-terrorism seems to make all the wrong tactical decisions. In fact, many of the characters make really stupid decisions just so the script can place them in perilous situations - a sign of lazy scriptwriting. The series is also very slow and pedestrian, nothing like Netflix's Sweet Home which has such strong female characters and a driving momentum.

Vigilantes with a conscience.
Can't wait for season 2. Great storylines, fantastic cast, car chases and action. Lee JeHoon is awesome as Kim Dok Ki and his fighting style is a joy to watch.

Nevertheless...But
I gave it a 5 because the characters annoyed me but Nevertheless is different from the slew of romantic kdramas because it tackles love showing all its insecurities, uncertainties and stupidity. Song Kang is terrific as an unlikeable lover because he is a butterfly while Han SoHee does her best as a woman who's insecure and mistrustful, having been hurt before. I can't understand why she won't grab hold of her good, seemingly wonderful childhood friend who cares for her rather than the the lover who will always hurt her. But then love is blind. This series is slow but at least, it's memorable. Nevertheless.
News of the World (2020)
Don't heed the low rating for this excellent western drama.
News of the World is that rare character driven cowboy movie that is all about the journey rather than the need to be entertained very 10 minutes with a gunfight or chase. This movie is more broadsheet than tabloid and enables you to use your brain as you view it. Solid performances by Tom Hanks and Helena Zengel also make every scene feel real and gripping.

"If he was so kind and diligent, why didn't you do anything when he was getting bullied?"
Netflix Korea has done it again. Here's another well written/directed/acted series that deals with a difficult subject so often buried by a system that does not support the victims. This series doesn't pull its punches and just gets better and better as each episode progresses. Superb cast.
Gunpowder Milkshake (2021)
A human nebula fights the bad guys with help from her sisters.
Didn't want to like this movie but ended up thoroughly enjoying it. What fun to see women duke it out with the bad guys and win while looking gorgeous at the same time. Karen Gillian's fluidity and agility makes her fight scenes (and there are many) a joy to watch.
Move to Heaven (2021)
If trauma cleaners were like Move to Heaven, I'd R.I.P.
Netflix once again continues to narrow the gap between often cliched Korean TV drama and the very high storytelling/production standards set by Korean cinema. This is an intriguing and life affirming original series about the end of life. In so many shows, we see people die but we never find out what happens after that. This refreshing series tells us some of their stories and is a gem in scriptwriting. Every heartwarming or heart wrenching episode is wonderfully acted by the talented cast and from the get go, you care about each one you meet. I cried a tissue box while binge watching the series and can't wait for Season 2...

Better the second time round
I think I was spending too much time trying to keep up with the subtitles and all the action that it got me confused, as everything was happening so quickly. But the second time round, I didn't have to read the subtitles as much and could really enjoy the acting, story and action. Acting was terrific and SFX is on par with the best of Hollywood. I enjoyed it so much that I raised my rating to a 9.
