Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Insanely good.
Absolute must-watch film. It's hilarious and original. The writing is excellent and performances do it justice with the delivery. Phenomenal.
Hesher (2010)
Not Suitable for Lovers of the Generic
Fantastic. Watch it. Dark humour and exceptional performances render this film un-take-your-eyes-off-it-able.
Da 5 Bloods (2020)
Too Many Grating Things
Start with the main positive of Da 5 Bloods: Chadwick Boseman was brilliant. The world has been robbed of many more films with his skill and performance.
The flashbacks where the characters are still their old selves didn't work, at least for me. There were serious age errors with some of the characters, particularly Tiên Luu. The message of the film is far too obvious and doesn't require the audience to ask deeper questions of the obvious issues the film attempts to address.
Finally, it's about 45 minutes to an hour too long.
The Gentlemen (2019)
Ronseal
It does exactly what it says on the tin. Doesn't make you think much, but an enjoyable romp. This film improved exponentially upon Colin Farrell's introduction, and Michelle Dockery's performance is a highlight.
In Time (2011)
Cool concept; average film.
Thank you to my friend Sam for the title of this review: he summed it up perfectly in those four words.
The concept of the film is fascinating, and it poses some brilliant, deep questions to ask yourself about society and the lives we live.
The film itself is OK. Entertaining enough to maintain interest, but I wanted more from strength of the concept.
Cillian Murphy does as Cillian Murphy does, act well in everything he's in.
American Wisper (2020)
If I could give it 0, I would.
Turned it off after 29 minutes. I don't think I've seen worse 'acting' and dialogue in a film. Ever. Truly, truly awful.
The complete lack of genuine emotion from anyone after discovering the murders of three children was the finishing point for us.
