Skyggenes dal (2017)
A beautiful film, but only for those who know how to appreciate it
The only way to appreciate the beauty of this film is to see through the eyes of the child. It is a trancending experience. Love it!
Lady Bird (2017)
Love it!
I just love this I am going to watch it over and over again. Saoirse Ronan is wonderful.
Woman Walks Ahead (2017)
A fine movie done honestly
I find it hard to believe that anyone canhonestly give a rating lower than 7.0 for this movie unless it was done for political motive. The injustice done to the native Americans by the white settlers can never be atoned.
Cathereine Weldon was a brave woman and she had contributed her share to do the right thing.
Green Mansions (1959)
This film deserves to be a flop!
I read the book and watched the movie and I must say the movie did more harm to the book than gaining it attention. What was original a gem of literature is turned into a cliché of white man saving, or trying to save, a natural paradise. It ended up a farce. Of course, Audrey was wonderful, as she always was. But the adaptation was so bad that the original message, of relationship between human kind and environment and the danger of the former on the latter, was totally lost. Of course, the beautiful description of the land in the book is nowhere to be found. I strongly advise those who are interested to go and read the book itself. Understandably, this film was made in 1959 but the script is really so horrible that even the presence of Audrey could not save it.
The Viking Queen (1967)
It is supposed to be fun, and it is.
I agree it is not historically correct. But there are still lots of fun watching this. Despite it was made in the 60s, one can still watch it nowadays and find it enjoyable. The final battle scene was entertaining. Too bad they let the two princesses slain so easily. (Did I see Octavius fondling the dying Talia after he received his own death blow? ) Of course if made today, the battle scene should be more crowded. (There was hardly a cohort there, not to mention a legion and computer technology would help that out today). And the love scenes would be more explicit (and showing).
The names of the three princesses were not very cleverly or carefully chosen. No Briton princess would be called Beatrice or Salina at that time. (and of course, like many here said, no Viking either) But who cares? It is supposed to be fun, and it is.
