Cursed (2020)
Entertaining & Adventurous Fantasy
I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining Fantasy. Although it took a couple episodes in to grab my attention, once it had that, I was hooked and binge watched it till the end. I enjoyed Cursed better than Warrior Nun, which I also binge watched, & both are released by Netflix. I am hoping both will continue with a season 2.
In my opinion, the producers, directors, writers & cast of any series that manages to pull me in enough to binge watch an entire season in a day or 2 must be doing something right in their entertainment. Lol. I also felt some of the more well known actors & actresses in Cursed such as those whom played Merlin, Nimue & The Weeping Monk did a great job in their roles. Some of the forested locations, waterfalls & background props were quite stunning & relevant to the shows mythological time era.
Since movie genres such as Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror & some Mythology are usually strong in fictional elements & undertones I do not look for perfection, political correctness or accuracy, I instead prefer to be entertained with something different. The more strange, fantastical, off the wall, out of this world a fiction movie can push ones imagination, the better. Perfection is an illusion and if I want facts, accuracy, political correctness, or real life to shock or slam me in the face, I watch a Documentary or turn on the news.
Great job on both series Netflix! Thanks to all those at the helm & behind the scenes/camera (producers, directors, writers, cast etc) for everything you do each day to bring entertainment & wonder to the masses :)
Heartland (2007)
Full of Heart
Truly an exceptional series full of heart & horses. The "Best" series I have had the pleasure of watching, and considering I have seen more series than i can count, in just about every genre out there, I'd say that's a pretty high recommendation. Lol
Everything about "Heartland", from the beautiful cinematography, rolling hills, wild mustangs & wide open spaces to the ensemble cast, acting & overall small-town country atmosphere, makes this family friendly, down to earth series an enjoyable must see!
It covers the struggling ranch life of a multi-generational family and the everyday real life challenges & hardships they face. The series has alittle something for everyone as it plunges the viewer into the action, excitement & dangers of the rodeo circuit, wild animals, greedy land developers & poachers or touches the heart of the viewer with the loving strength of family ties, helping those in need, and the soothing patience, love & understanding needed when raising, training, rehabilitating & re-homing horses.
Having great directors & producers, as well as an incredible acting cast at the helm, it's no wonder the viewer is taken on an emotional roller coaster ride with a heart-warming healthy dose of family drama, romance, strong family values, second chances & down-home humor, all tied together. Each character is unique and so well developed & acted that we, the viewer, can almost feel invested in their lives & accomplishments as we experience their courage, fear, frustration, happiness, excitement, loneliness, sadness and heartbreaking pain of loss as if it were our own. From the loving, humorous, sometimes grumpy old-fashioned Patriarch Grandfather and his 2 grand-daughters, whom are complete opposites, to his reckless ex son-in-law and the first emotionally troubled & scarred boy the family takes under their wing, the show shines as the strength & love of family creates everlasting bonds that stand the test of time.
We are treated to humbling & heart-breaking moments alike, along with wonderful feats of humanity as the strengths & connections of each character flow between helping one another, helping others in need, or protecting animals in danger. We really get a sense of how the connections humans have with horses, animals & nature can have an extremely positive impact on our emotional happiness & well being. The science of veternarian & holistic medicine converge as the viewer is exposed to how beneficial the 2 are, together as a whole, in the healing process, both physically & emotionally. In addition, the series manages to touch on just about every family value as well as teaches the viewer values of forgiveness, generosity, acceptance, tolerance & patience, to name a few.
Finally, for the icing on the cake, all you horse lovers, cowboys & cowgirls will experience a delightful plethora of events, programs & activities involving horses and revolving around ranch life and the rodeo circuit. Everything from herding cattle, roping a steer, riding a bronc, barrel racing, chuck-wagon racing to trick-riding, horse racing/jumping & rigorous training for the olympics.
So if you want a relaxing break from the galloping ahead ratrace life of technology, high-speed internet, city lights, noise and bumper-to-bumper traffic take a highly recommended leisurely ride on a horse in the country under a beautiful sunrise or sunset :)
Running Wild (2017)
Heart & Soul
Well, I am probably as bias as they come when commenting on any horse film in general since the majestic animals always capture my love & admiration.
"Running Wild" is a heartwarming family film about second chances & the courage within us all to rise up to the challenges we face in life. It's mostly a feel good film with a healthy dose of heart & soul, and although I feel no show I've seen as yet involving horses can hold a candle to the "Heartland" series, this one definitely has its' moments that pull at the heart strings.
With decent acting, it moves at a leisurely pace, more concerned about allowing the viewer time to absorb the beautiful relationships between horses & humans that can have a positive impact in both our lives, rather than galloping full speed ahead as we miss out on one of the more fundamental things in life ... simple connections with others, whether man or beast.
Extraction (2020)
Explosive Action!
My first review. Decided it was time to enjoy all the aspects of my favorite movies/series site. 😊
Awesome, explosive, action romp! Excellent camera work, riveting scenes, great acting with an emotional somber undercurrent Had my attention from start to finish. Exactly what I hope to find in an action flick. Sit back, grab some popcorn or snacks, relax and enjoy the movie for what movies are mostly for ... enjoyment!
If one feels the need to do an in-depth tear down of every aspect in a movie from accents & misrepresentation of location you have totally missed the point of movie cinema in general. Lol. If you want facts & precision in a movie or series, I suggest trying out a Documentary or non-fiction 😎
