River of Freedom (2023)
A Visual Journey Through New Zealand's Protests
River of Freedom offers stunning images into the Wellington protests in New Zealand, where people rallied against the govt and its covid vaccine mandates. However, the documentary's runtime of 2.5 hours felt excessive, it spends too much time on irrelevant details about things happening inside the freedom village while I was expecting to see more about the facts that led to the protest and the outcomes.
The documentary excels in showcasing the striking visuals and impressive organization behind the protest. I was particularly impressed with the industrial kitchen set up to feed the protesters. While the documentary primarily focuses on the protest itself, I was expecting to see more about how dangerous govt overreach on people's life can be. I think this documentary has greater appeal for those who attended the protest only.
Idiocracy (2006)
This might turn out the most accurate prediction of the future of humanity
Every time I check on the news I think that this movie will end up becoming the most accurate prediction of the future of humanity due to the current level of indoctrination that is pushed into society on daily basis. I don't know what to expect from the next generations that will be occupying posts in government or media. I believe it will be a series of crazy things disguised as "progress".
To reach this conclusion, just ask yourself what your reaction would be 20 years ago to everything that is pushed in society today.
The pandemic lockdowns for instance. When that started, I thought that society would not accept that situation for more than a week. But the vast majority spent more than 2 years stuck to the news channels to know when they could talk to their neighbors again, or breathe fresh air, or get some sun, or visit their grandparents.
Hustle (2022)
Even Netflix get it right sometimes
Really nice movie, specially for those who like sports. As usual, I was quite skeptical before deciding to watch a new release on Netflix. I'm just tired of the political bias and social issues BS present in most of their films. But after reading some reviews I decided to go for it and for the first time in while didn't regret.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Pure entertainment like I haven't seen it in a long time
The new Top Gun delivers what every film should deliver: entertainment!
That's the reason I pay to watch a movie. No political and social agendas that are part of practically every movie these days and that no one can take anymore.
I hope this movie makes a lot of money and makes Hollywood's geniuses come back to deliver entertainment.
The Batman (2022)
I tried but couldn't finish
Boring, slept twice watching it, gave up after 2 hours. Repetitive storyline, depressing Bruce Wayne, Batman uniform is the worst ever. I'm quite impressed people managed to watch to the end.
Turning Red (2022)
Definitely not a family movie
Great animation but not a movie to watch with kids. Bizarre story and terrible message passed to children. It contains all the woke stuff pushed to society these days.
Dune (2021)
Boring, almost gave up in the first 15 minutes
The trailer gives the impression that this is an really nice movie, but it is quite the opposite. Almost gave up within 15 minutes and was struggling to stay wake.
Rust Creek (2018)
Anyone giving more than 3 stars on this one is just joking
Watched it because of some 8+ reviews but then understood that those people were joking. Very predictable flick, terrible production. The last scene is laughable.
Project Power (2020)
Couldn't finish, gave up after 30 minutes. Just another Netflix-like average movie.
It just another Netflix style movie. Those guys rarely get it right, and this for me was another waste of time.
Black and Blue (2019)
Managed to watch half of it
I tried but only managed to watch half of the movie. It is the first movie of that I watched during the lockdown that I didn't finish. Lots of holes in the history. Very silly and unreal.
Coffee & Kareem (2020)
Impossible to finish the movie
Annoying kid, way out of hand with the cursing, annoying racial bs
