Beast (2022)
Pretty Good
I was actually really impressed with the movie. Idris Elba was great and so was the other guy actor. Sometimes these animal attack movie can be cheesy or corny but this one was pretty good. The lion actually looked real and looked pretty damn scary. Very muscular and just all around looked like a scary...beast. He was definitely on mission to get revenge for the slaying of his pride. The movie kept my attention entire time which is good.
The only part I thought was stupid was the end. When the lion is just dragging around Iris Elba for way too long. This lion is gigantic and he killed everyone else rather quickly but they have him dragging around Idris for way too long. He never would have survived that. Then I think the other lions took way too long to attack the male lion. They saw the commotion and especially since that pride was raised by humans (there's a scene where they are hugging and playing with the one guy) I think they would have intervened a lot quicker. Not to mention it was another male lion which is a threat to their pride. That was the only flaw in the movie to me. Otherwise it was good!
Girl in the Shed: The Kidnapping of Abby Hernandez (2022)
Didn't show what the victim actually went through
I had high hopes for this movie. I really thought it would portray what the actual victim went through. The movie really did Abby a disservice. The movie doesn't show any sexual assault. No we don't need to see this in detail but they didn't even hint at it. There was one scene where she got shocked but other than that it the movie makes it like she was just abducted and friends with her abductor. We know she acted like his friend to plan her escape but the movie massively fails on what the victim actually went through. I would rather just have watched a documentary about it. This film was pointless to watch and kind of boring.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)
Not near as good at the 2003 remake
This was ok only because it told the story behind the 2003 remake. Other than that it wasn't very good. Way too much unnecessary gore. Jordana Brewster was decent but can't light a match to Jessica Biel who played the role fantastically in the remake. Matt bomber is too pretty to even be in the movie. The original characters from the 2003 remake were good as usual. The rest of the cast lacked and didn't stand out at all. Glad I saw it to explain the first one but wouldn't watch it again.
Virgin River (2019)
Boring and very predictable but wholesome
This show is great if your trying to get a good nights sleep or if your doing some other things in the background. The acting is super cheesy and the show is very predictable. They leave good cliffhangers at the end of the episodes is the only reason I've continued to watch it. It is a wholesome show though. Better for maybe the elderly generation.
My Week with Marilyn (2011)
Michelle White looks nothing like Marilyn!
I just can't bring myself to enjoy this film. I tried over and over. The whole story was very blah and didn't show the real insight of Marilyn and her life struggles. This film seems poorly directed and frankly boring. Not to mention Michelle White does NOT look anything like Marilyn. Very disappointing. Kelli Garner plays a much better Marilyn in The secret life of Marilyn Monroe. Way better movie and way more true insight in her life.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
Worst movie I have seen in years. AWFUL!!!!
Wow. Just wow. What a complete disaster of a...."film" which it doesn't even deserve that title. Where to start? The movie starts off absolutely ridiculous. Very unrealistic scene that didn't make any sense. There are lot of scenes in the movie that literally just made no sense at all. The fight scenes were awful. They barely showed the monsters fighting and focused more on the human characters. In the middle of a fight scene I don't care what the humans are doing. The humans are literally right in the middle of the monster fight scene, right next to them and flames, shards, everything is flying around the human characters but yet none of them got injured or hurt all. Very unrealistic. The fight scenes were also very dark, and no this wasn't my tv. The scenes were literally dark, I had to turn the brightness up just to see what was going on. Horrible graphics. It was like I was watching a bad cartoon. Godzilla had no detail features. He literally looked like just a dark blob. The girl from "stranger things" is so bad in it. I never realized how bad of an actor she was. She was calling all the shots in the film which was just stupid. Her mother in the film was doing a ton of things that no mother would do and that made NO SENSE. The 2014 Godzilla film was pretty good overall and the fight scenes were great, but it was nothing to brag about. This film makes the 2014 film Oscar worthy. This is definitely one of the worst films I've seen in a very very long time. It was torture having to sit through it for 2 hours and 10 minutes. The. Only reason we kept watching it was because we want to see the new Godzilla vs. Kong which is a follow up to this 2019 Godzilla film and Kong: Skull Island (which was amazing by the way. Highly recommend Kong: Skull Island). If you can spare yourself from watching this movie just fast forward it until the end. Wish we would have done that.
Let Him Go (2020)
Great Oscar Worthy Dark Western Thriller!! Don't listen to bad reviews!!
Not sure why this film got so many bad reviews. Is it a little slower at times? Yes. It is not meant to be a full on action packed movie. The film keeps your attention all throughout. Diana Lane and Kevin Costners on screen chemistry is DYNAMITE! The film is very emotional at times but still stays suspenseful. The real award should also go to Leslie Manville. She does an amazing job playing the sinister, deeply disturbed, unhinged, flagitious villain. Leslie Manville's performance was oscar worthy in my opinion. SHe kept the movie very suspenseful. Jeffery Donovan is also very good. The one issue I had with the film was the ending. The ending was pretty abrupt. It was very quick. It's like we watched the whole film, which it is a little slower, but then the ending just came so fast and then it was over. I definitely wished that the director would have made other parts of the movie shorter or cut some of the slower parts out and drug out the ending, which also had the most action, a little bit more. We needed a longer, more built up, and action packed ending. Other than that it was a great film!!
The Shallows (2016)
Amazing underwater graphics and detail!! Great movie!
Ok I am not sure how this movie got such low ratings. I am usually not amazed by shark movies at all but I decided to give this one a shot because my husband and I had a group of over 10 people who wanted to watch it at movie night. The underwater graphics and sound effects are AMAZZZING! You really feel the main character's (Blake Lively) emotion and hurt under water. The graphics and also very beautiful and detailed. Not to mention the shark in the film, even though not a real shark, the real-like graphics were beyond out of this world. This movie gave me a sort of relaxing feeling, which sounds weird but the scenery was just to die for, but still gave me an off-my seat action packed thriller,. I mean the way the shark comes after her so furiously is intense! Loved this film. Don't listen to the lame reviews. Give it a shot its worth it!
Cobra Kai (2018)
The most corniest show ever..made for 10 year olds!
Wow. Just wow. I am not sure how this show got such reviews. I mean this remake honestly had the worst acting I have seen in a very long time. Super corny as well. Ralph Macchio is such a bad actor it is very hard to watch. He was great in the karate kid but omg I don't know what happened to him. It is very hard to act this bad. His daughter in the film, Mary Mouser is even worse. I mean truly awful acting. However I would not expect as much from her seeing as to the fact she really hasn't been in anything else. But she makes the show and the fights scenes very corny. It's almost like she is trying extra hard to bad.
William Zabka looks like he should win an Oscar compared to these two. For people who are hardcore fans of the original and for those who have never seen the original..this is just at an all time low for both audiences. Whoever did the casting should be fired. Actors are again not only but but extremley corny and bland. Nothing special about them at all.
My friends and I barley made it through season 1 and we only made it because it was so bad it was literally comical. I truly believe all the good reviews on this film are not real. Look at the bad reviews and they are a lot more accurate and realistic.
The Princess and the Frog (2009)
Amazing film for kiddos of all cultures and backgrounds! Great Film!
Disney really took the cake with this one. I am so glad they finally (after waiting way too long) to come out with a beautiful African American princess. I myself even enjoyed it as an adult watching with my kids. This film is great in every sense of the word, for every Disney fan regardless of race, culture, or background. If you are from the south you will also really appreciate the true Louisiana dialogue and culture they stuck too. Definitely recommend this one!
Knives Out (2019)
How did this get such good rating??
This was by far one of the most boring movies I've seen in a long time. No clue how it got such good reviews. I thought this would be a lot better and it was just very disappointing.
Unforgettable (2017)
The fight scene was honestly laughable
Ok so I really tried to give this movie the benefit of the doubt. The beginning was ok. Nothing special at all....and then OMG the fight scene was sooooo bad!! I am just shocked that the director looked at this and thought this as ok. I mean it was the worst scene and acting I have EVER seen in my life. It was genuinely laughable. Katherine and Rosario should be super embarrassed with this film. It was disgraceful.
Fatal Affair (2020)
Netflix..how would you ever release this??
I love obsession movies. It is very hard for me to give one a bad rating. This movie was BEYOND awful. I mean it's almost as if it was a bad joke or something. The acting was god awful, plot made no sense, they copied things from literally every other movie. Just corny and awful. I'm at a lost for words. Nia Long and Omar Epps have been actors for a while too. They are not new to the game. No excuse for this. Netflix should be embarrassed.
Falling Inn Love (2019)
I enjoyed it!!
I enjoyed this film a lot. It's not complicated, easy to watch, modern, and love the diversity. I haven't seen Christina Millian in a while so it was nice to see her in something light and a good romantic comedy. It's not winning an Oscar or anything but I would definitely recommend!
Charlie's Angels (2019)
Pretty bad
I don't think the bombing of this movie has anything to do with men not liking female action movies as Elizabeth Banks puts it. I think this movie didn't do well bc it was REALLY BAD. I am a female and I struggled to watch a whole 2 hours it. They should have brought back Cameron, Lucy lu, and Barrymore. This movie has barely had action scenes and when it did it was just awful corny fight scenes, it was very slow, didn't make sense, and the acting was god awful. Save your money and wait until it's free.
The Wrong Boy Next Door (2019)
Worst acting I've ever seen!!
Wow lifetime moves just aren't like they used to be back In the 90's/early 2000's. Almost all newer lifetime movies are just bad. This in was no exception. It was almost painful to watch bc the acting was so awful! Start making better movies lifetime....pleeeeeease.
