A journey about learning empathy, filled with love
4 January 2024
Lesson in chemistry is beautifully filmed and acted. The story is rich in relevant topics like emancipation as a woman - and in general as a human being - , friendship, morals and the ever so often changing challenges of life itself.

The whole cast is great and you will find some of your favourite actors appear throughout the show.

I think you will feel more connected with the characters and the different stories that are been told if you.. well know that emancipation is not a term exklusiv used for feministic topics or do understand that feminism is important for society's as a whole.

The, ever so often mentioned, "on the nose" politics and morals are part of the show. They are an important part of the characters challenges, change and growth. But don't be afraid, they are never deeply discussed or as preachy as other reviews make them sound.

What is a little objectionable is Elizabeth Zott later outfits especially in her tv show. Her show's wardrobe team must be the most progressive for the next decades, which is nice but also a little bit funny.

Apart from that, the whole art direction department really did a great job on this show and everything looks great.

Overall lessons in chemistry is a little slice of life gem that has strong moments, with a lot of heart and great characters.

Warms and breaks my heart everytime
21 November 2023
This movie is somehow similar to my own family history, how me and my sister grew up in germany, how we packed our luggage when going on vacation in turkey, but mind you, we grew up in the 80s and 90s. Still, it catches a lot of the suttle humor we are enjoying and how we face our daily lifes. I also watched the movie with my mum many years after release. She also loved it and shed some tears. Its hard to explain why this movie is so good and how they managed to create such a heartwarming experience, but rest assured, this movie shows you with it lovely characters how we emancipate from our parents and families, how we laugh, how we cry, how we hide to smoke - even as grown ups -, how we raise our children and how we argue as a generation caught between nations and cultures.

I hope you can enjoy this movie, too.
