Rat Race (2001)
Without Doubt the funniest Comedy I've seen! FABULOUS!!!
From start to finish this movie has you in fits of laughter. Based loosely on It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World this story is a rolling chase that exploits the madness of a group of people's discoveries of what they would do if presented with a chance to get their hands on $2,000,000. There are so many points within each character that you could easily identify with and that's what makes it funnier because you know that if you're in the same situation you would probably act the same way. The cast is wonderful and with such a line up of fantastic comedians you're guarnteed a laugh a minute. You haven't stopped laughing at one scene before you're laughing at the next! Lets hope there's more movies like this one!!!
La vita è bella (1997)
The Most Touching and Inspiring Movie
If you ever feel that the world is weighing down on you, and the outlook does not seem bright, this movie will inspire you to change perspective and take a positive attitude no matter how dreary your situation. This has to be one of the most beautiful perspectives of how good comes in an awful situation, and how sacrifice can influence the life of generations to come. The comedy is marvelously appropriate and I've not seen such a poignent nor touching moment in any film as in the final scenes of this movie. Wonderfully inspiring!
All Babes Want to Kill Me (2005)
A Funny Comedy
It is rare that you can watch a comedy and find an original plot with a relatively unknown cast, who perform brilliantly, and that's what makes this karate comedy work so well. The film opens with wonderful cinematography, combined with innocent music to set a fairytale atmosphere, which plays against the sad story of a young karate boy who contracts an illness which makes beautiful women want to kill him, and he is consequently banished from his family. Colin Miller, who plays the main character of Vatchel Cho, is excellent in his roll of an adult who has never really lost his 'childhood innocence' and consequently his interraction with all the Babes (and they're good-looking babes too) becomes funnier the more he encounters these pretty women. The whole cast play their rolls brilliantly and the end product is a movie that will make you laugh even for days afterwards, as you think back on it. The fight scenes are also well done with a magnificent music score throughout. There are a lot of funny lines and scenes particularly coming from the blind, mean, old father who makes me laugh every time I think of him. I'm looking forward to seeing this movie again, and also seeing more from the cast and director in the future.
L.I.N.X. (2000)
Well worth a watch on a rainy night
The clever plot with an original idea of the theory of time tells the story of one young man's quest for the answer to life's big questions. It's filled with twist after twist, tension, excitement and a little sadness too. Although this is classed as a sci-fi I think it has a larger appeal than to just sci-fi fans. It takes about 10 or 15 mins for the pace to pick up, but it's worth enduring. I genuinely think that if it had some big names starring, and a little more budget spent on special effects then it would have been a good success at the box office. However, the actors do a pretty good job anyway, accompanied by a wonderful music score which adds to the tension, drama and excitement of a film worthy of a 7/10 in my books.
Shark Attack 2 (2000)
Best Shark Movie Since Jaws
After Jaws it will always be difficult to make a shark movie which will be as action packed, adventurous and entertaining. However, Shark Attack 2 is probably the best of the 'post Jaws' era, and better in content and adventure than it's prequel. It would be true to say that the music didn't quite match the thrilling suspense of John William's score but the adventure was something you experience along with the actors. The movie at one point threatened to slow down a little but that quickly turned around with the introduction of the character of Roy Bishop which sprung the movie back to life again with more action, humor and tension. If you're debating whether to watch this movie or not I will say that you will be able to enjoy the romance with Dr Harris and Samantha, keep on the edge of your seat with the suspense and enjoy a few laughs along the way.
