Snow Days (1999)
A wonderful, charming film for all ages.
Snow Days is a romantic comedy beautifully written and acted. It is unusual as this love story is told from the point of view of the man, taking it out of the "chick flick" category. My husband and I just loved this film. It is funny, sexy, touching and thoroughly entertaining. The direction, by Adam Marcus, is just right, done with a light touch. The story turns around a pair of somewhat starcrossed lovers, who just happen to be best friends. Not wanting to ruin their friendship and both coming from families with less than perfect marriages, they each believe that if they become lovers, everything will change and they will lose each other completely. What follows is the madness of young love with bad timing, testing of feelings, and the tearing pain of separation and loss. James, the hero tries to find happiness with other girls in a montage of quick, hilarious scenes. Dating and the folly of it just sends James back again and again to his first and only love, Sarah, only to find each time that Sarah has either left the country, or is involved with someone else. I won't spoil the fun for you by telling you any more of the story. It's a lovely film. Don't miss it.
