Hold the Dark (2018)
Dull storyline and acting
I made it through 50 minutes before tossing in the towel. All the characters are flat and boring. Absolutely no emotion. The story is bizarre and SLOW. The cinematography is so dark I could barely see during some scenes. Hard pass on this one.
Palmer (2021)
Heartfelt and funny
I was excited to see this movie after seeing the preview in December. It turned out to be better than I expected, and the acting superb. I don't know why the critic ratings aren't higher. Is it a typical feel good ending? Yeah. Does that in any way make the movie bad? Nope. Hands down a movie I'll add to my favorites list.
Transplant (2020)
Exceptional medical drama
I'm incredibly impressed by this series. I'm a critical care nurse, and often find medical dramas horribly inaccurate and poorly written. Transplant is well-written, and the cast is exceptional. I can't wait for more episodes!
The Colony (2013)
Bland
Run of the mill post-apocalyptic "what-else-is-out-there" film. The acting isn't terrible, but it's not spectacular either. Despite the gore and violence, the movie moved pretty slow. I actually took many breaks and essentially forced myself to watch the Disappointing ending that really didn't resolve the story.
Normal People (2020)
Exceptional series
This series is phenomenal. The acting is superb, and the characters were cast beautifully. Marianne and Connell are relatable, flawed characters with so much depth to their story. I binged the whole series in a day.
Hangman (2017)
Yikes.
I had hope for this movie with Pacino and Snow. It was poorly placed. I kept waiting for the movie to pick up, but once I hit the 40 minute mark, I gave up. I couldn't even finish. Pacino has some sort of accent, but I have NO clue what he was going for.
