Dragon Ball Z (1996–2003)
10/10
Utterly brilliant
7 July 2006
This won't give you the best impression the first time you see it but it just keeps getting better and better and can eventually become dangerously addictive. It takes action and story to all new levels. A lot of the dialog actually does make sense even if sometimes cliché'd. This is actually one of the few shows that is actually worthy of all the hype and popularity surrounding it. Although it may drag a lot, and the characters spend a lot of time staring at each other, what eventually happens at the end makes up for the waiting. I've only seen this up to the end of the freiza saga and that saga was slightly less impressive than the former few sagas. As the sagas progress, you'd better start seeing the uncut versions instead.

Scary Movie 2 (2001)
1/10
Eeeeeeeeeeeeyuck
7 July 2006
The first scary movie was just passable and third was OK but this POS is inexcusable. Disgusting and dirty humor probably intended to shock but ends up causing nausea rather than anything else. The wayan brothers should just immolate themselves and spare us any future headaches. All the other actors also overact and you end up wanting to kill them all. This movie is not funny in any way and the less than disgusting jokes are incredibly stupid. Don't waste your time. The only thing scary about this movie is the stupidity and crudeness of the writers, actors and the director. If you want to spend 2 hrs on something less painful, jump off the terrace. 1/10 stars.

Van Helsing (2004)
8/10
Good fun
7 July 2006
Van helsing is no where nearly as bad as the Mummy or the Mummy returns and can be great fun if you don't expect serious horror. The CGI is only rarely bad and pretty decent for the most part. The settings and action are excellent. The homage to all the characters of the genre can be appreciated. Dracula comes across as a pathetic individual and you actually feel sad for him. It may drag a teency weency bit but for the most part, its quite enjoyable and thats what movies are supposed to be. Without stuff like these, cinema would be extremely boring. At the same time, most of the parts in this movie have been quite professionally done.

xXx (2002)
5/10
Not passable
7 July 2006
The best thing I can say about this movie is that its opening sequence had Rammstein playing "Bang Bang" and that was supposed to be the xXx theme song, to much embarrassment. But the movie itself sucks a lot. It tries to be a James Bond with a bad ass flavor but actually fails miserably. Some of the action scenes are actually quite well scripted and I would'nt be surprised if others found them to be excellent but the way they've been executed makes them plain boring and one could even fall asleep. The story is the standard bad guy wants to destroy xyz place using nuke/bio/chem weapons. The villains come across as idiots and Vin Diesel sucks in his role.
