Not a typical Stewart movie. Wasted Fonda and Stewart's talent
14 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I love westerns. I'm also a huge fan of Stewart and Henry Fonda. But this was disappointing. Wasted talent of both Fonda and Stewart but more so of Fonda, who spends half the movie recovering in bed.

It's a dark flick, especially for a Jimmy Stewart movie. Sexual innuendo, hints of multiple rape attempts. That was a bit surprising.

The blonde chick was almost raped but her behavior made zero sense afterwards. Apparently, getting $5 changed her view on it. It's as if afterwards, she felt she's happy and willing to do anything if it means she can get paid for it. How she acted afterwards, when she was at home looking in the mirror getting undressed....it's as if she just realized she's good looking and it can pay off for her. That whole aspect of the film was just strange.

Storyline and directing could've been much better. A lot of good acting wasted in my opinion, mostly due to poor script.

John Adams (2008)

Educational, Entertaining and without usual Hollywood vulgarity
28 December 2022
Excellent series. And I'm shocked it's from HBO. Usually, I hear HBO, I assume it's going to be f bombs galore and filled with sex scenes and nudity. Wish this series was long and there was many more like it.

Especially I these days, we sure could use more historical shows on how the country was founded, the founders and what set America apart. Seems to me, too many in America today need to be reminded.

The script and acting in John Adams is top notch as is the sets. They couldn't of picked better actors to portray the main characters.

I can only hope we get more shows like this one and couldn't come soon enough.

Good Western, too Elsa centric
26 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Some top notch acting all the way around. While the story was interesting, the focus on Elsa as the main character, sort of derailed the show a bit. Especially the focus on her "love life". That and she didn't appear like a woman who was traveling through the Western wilderness for months. Her hair kept perfect, and makeup managed to be never ending.

The highest rated episode, for now at least, was the loss of Ennis. It was well done and emotional.. yet two episodes later she is suddenly in love with an Indian. That plot was a bit ridiculous and brought the show to jumping the shark territory. It was also rather unfortunate that after she died, her heaven didn't feature Ennis at all.

This show also had a bit more F words than was probably used in those days. Regardless, I dont understand why the show runners can't take the language and sex down. It's as if they feel they must have "adult" language and sex for a show to be successful. Can a show be bold enough to feature a good story without the vulgarity for once?

Not among Stewart's best
16 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Stewart's character is unlikeable through 98% of the movie. I could love with that I suppose but while it had some good characters, the story itself is a bit weak. How Stewart treats the blond girl was disappointing.

The end where his "love interest" (that half cocked plot was pointless), is shot and killed a minute before the movie ends. He doesn't grieve even after the showdown is over. It was weird and just another aspect of a poorly written movie.

Enjoyable western type movie, ruined by needless romance plot
29 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Took me too long to realize forced romances didn't start late in Hollywood movies. It started early on. There was no need to have Stewart and Janet's characters fall for each other. They didn't even know each other. Other than that, this was an unconventional western that was entertaining. Interesting characters.

Doesn't take long to determine this was garbage

This deserves negative stars. There are some shows, movies where you can say, eh, I didn't like it but you might. This one, I wouldn't urge anyone to watch it. I'd tell them not to waste one second of their time. It's as of some hormonal immature teenager came up with this. And not just a normal teenager, but one that's far more immature than even the average teen. It's pure trash. Seth Rogan and anyone else apart of this seem to think it was a good idea to take something like Santa and Christmas and add profanity, sex, etc to it amd that it would be hilarious. I don't think these people have any talent whatsoever. If nearly everything you try to do is just vile, and you can't even attempt to be funny without being crude and vile, you have no talent. Find another line of work.
