Worzel Gummidge (2019)
Wonderful and Magical
Just finished watching the first episode of Worzel Gummidge.
I remember the old version and loved watching all the episodes. So was expecting a newer version but was pleasantly surprised that they updated the story and made it more for millennials by addressing diversity, and about the biggest subject the danger of the environment and global warming.
Highlighting the dangers of plastic and problems of a poor harvest. A magical adventure where the children and Worzel helped to save the day.
Can't wait for the second episode where we can hopefully find out who is the green man. Great start to this series and Worzel and children were wonderful.
The Irishman (2019)
Irishman Staring 3 Greats
When you hear Joe Pesci, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are making a movie together, you are expecting great things.
I was not disappointed as right from the beginning to the end there was action but sad story.
Honour amongst thieves is played out with terrible consequences for anyone who breaks the code.
The sound, the action and clever deaging was played to its fullest.
I did not believe it came out so quickly on Netflix but I'm happy it did as it's a joy to watch. Al Pacino stole the movie moments for me, reminding me why I rated him in Scarface (1983)
The Theory of Everything (2014)
Time stood while watching this movie
I have always wanted to see this movie.
So I got to see this movie on Netflix and could not believe how great the acting was all round.
How amazing that Jane stayed and helped Stephen, even though he could have been dead in 2 years.
Stephen was funny and humble and realised his mistakes, always trying to improve himself, even though his body was letting him down.
Thank goodness the doctors were wrong, and that he survived to become a professor, and to write the most valuable books and theories of all time.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Finished not completely satisfied
I agree with bravos-75370 and jamescoghlan. The worst stars wars was phantom menace with jar jar and the jokes, and disappearance of darth maul.
Star Wars did have a very high standard for iV V VI which was never touched by the other movies, in my opinion, Star Wars VII came close but Star Wars I was spoilt and Star Wars III DONT let your kids see it, my kids cried when Darth Vader emerged, killing all the children.
I don't understand how reviews say there is no story. The story is clear, beginning middle and end. There is some wooden acting in places and some of the effects took over the story.
I enjoyed the movie as it had action all the way through. Dark side was defeated by using the force from all the past Jedis and everyone was happy, even the ewoks.
The issue is people listened to the build up of hype and was expecting an epic finally, like avengers endgame or a great movie like infinity war.
Star Wars V had the epic moment "I am your father" which shocked many people but Rey's reveal was not as epic as we don't feel for Emperor palpatine.
Carrier Fisher, Adam Driver, Richard E Grant where great, even Harrison Ford.
I do feel the dialogue could have been better "what's happening" "it's people" was corny.
Give JJ Abrams credit he tried to finish off the movie and complete, most if not all the questions that everyone wanted answered.
There have been terrible films this year, but you can't rate the film lower than The Emoji Movie (2017) or Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966).
