The Fairly OddParents (2001)
Fairly Oddly Stupid
I know that some approve of this cartoon, but I say "Forget this cartoon, man." Timmy has two sets of parents: those who tend to do little for him once in a while, and the shape-shifting oddparents, who grant him his every wish, with a price to pay of course. To me, what has become the ultimate downer of the Nicktoon is Vicki, the babysitter from Hades that is to die for (literally).
The plots are funny in a stupid way: Timmy is on the football team...as the ball. He's in a VR game where he's fighting ninja rabbits. What's next. I would put this Nicktoon at the very bottom of my list along with As Told By Ginger.
This Nicktoon just isn't my favorite.
Dancing Lady (1933)
It's the Deco that makes this movie!
I have seen this movie many times and....and...and let me put it to you this way--Joan's a knockout, Gable's a stud, Tone has a playboy tone, but if you really want to get into the essence of this movie, look at the sets throughout the movie. It's Art Deco at it's extreme best.
Two stunning examples are a spherical stoplight that stops and goes as it turns and a mirrored conical carousel. This makes you think it's the future. The streamlining definitely matches the richness of the Broadway elite and the Broadway-bound (until they become Hollywood-bound, then it gets better.)
The Deco definitely matches the stars.
