I Love That for You (2022)
Unique and Fun
I don't understand the negative reviews. This show focuses on topics that aren't often featured in TV shows, and does so with original, absurdist humor--and genuine thoughtfulness. It avoids so many cliches and does its own thing. I'm all for it!
Raise Hell: The Life & Times of Molly Ivins (2019)
A Hoot
I'd never heard of Molly Ivins before watching this, and I am utterly delighted that I got to learn about her. So smart, so funny, so real.
Rogue Trip (2020)
Insufferable Hosts
It's a shame that they go to interesting places and meet with fascinating people, but the hosts come across as glib, self-centered people who just try to be funny or clever (and fail at both). There should be way more focus on the locals, rather than on the hosts.
Shirley Valentine (1989)
Delightful
I'd never heard of this movie until popped up on a streaming channel. I gave it whirl, and wow, what a wonderful movie! Fun, thoughtful, and even practical.

Don't Waste Your Time
Not funny and not interesting. It's like an obnoxious parade orchestrated by a white guy who's trying to show off being progressive, but is just self-centered and superficial--and still plenty sexist to boot.
Little Women (2019)
Superficial
So much wasted talent here, simply to tell a superficial tale--about wanting money and good looks. The March family complains about being poor... but they live in a big house, wear beautiful clothes, and are surrounded by people with money who give them money and gifts. It gets two stars for being absolutely gorgeous visually, but it's so dead inside that I couldn't want to get out of the movie theater and away from this non-sensical world. There are no stakes. Also, Bob Odenkirk shows up halfway through to marvel at the fact that he's in a period movie, and it makes no sense, except to laugh at the absurdity. Louisa May Alcott would not be amused.
Seth Meyers: Lobby Baby (2019)
Hacky
I like Seth as a late night host, but this performance is embarrassingly bad. He starts off with jokes about Jewish people and a marriage-obsessed girlfriend... Um, what year is this? Oh right, it's 2019, and this stuff isn't funny.
He comes across as just another privileged white (but uh, rest assured, non-Jewish and not such a feminist!) guy who thinks that he's hilarious and has a hard life. Really, Seth? Yeesh.
