Terror in the Mall (1998)
oh dear..
This film is so bad that my sister walked in the room and asked me if it was a spoof. I wasn't sure. I mean it can't be serious can it? I mean how many holes can a plot have? it most likely will make you laugh (cause its so dire) and cry (cause its so dire.) Its surprising to see how a reasonably competent actor as Daniel Webb (Alien 3, brookside) could A) be so poor B) act in this trashy, souless, tripe. Watch only if friends are present and lost of alchol are involved.
eXistenZ (1999)
I really hope that didn't really happen....
Hmm where do I start. good points. ummmmmm....... The premise of this film is at first interesting. Although quickly you realise that it falls into the pit of "going no where" IT feels like a T.V movie. Its frankly embaressing. by far the worst Cronerberg film Iv'e seen. Law and leigh are given a laughable script to work with. (no one could make those lines sound convincing)This isn't a clever film. Anyone who thinks he matrix is a clever film will probably lap this one up though. Unless they are obssesed with big effects.. Which this has none. The narrative feels bad. Just ad I can't describe it. But one minute they are at a gas station then a chinese restraunt . It just bounces from one scene to th next. No rythm or pace. I really cant think of anything that was.... ah actually I liked the gun with the teeth bullets, nice touch.

The Hole (2001)
Good but flawed.....
The hole ironically named after its major weakness (holes in the plot!) seems to move from flash back to reality a little to frantically for me. Some parts seem rushed and it could of done with more interaction within the hole itself. The acting is hit n miss, Birch isn't great. And her accent tends to wander off to australia, south africa and back to her native country. Although the rest of the cast seem competent. I was specially impressed by Kiera Knightley as the slutty teen queen. This a refreshing film and an indication that School influenced comdies/dramas/thrillers. can be effectively implemented in England. The U.S bubble gum high school nausea is waring thin in the states and these kind of films have found a fresh ground (U.K) In the hole. Our cultural and class history doesn't have to be spelt out like the jock, geek, stoner bland recycled crap that floats to the surfaces regularly
