Taking on the wrold, righteously
8 March 2024
Wow, in this episode, Matt and Trey take on the biggest evil-ist empire yet, that is known to (and made by) man kind: social media big tech.

. A multi-trillion dollar industry capable of crushing continents.

. Excellent work in exposing this sickening expliicit targeting of children for online profit. Regulation needs to catch up quicly to this menace.

. Okay, some more text required by IMDB. I recommend watchitng the following documentaries and/or movies: Social Network, The Social Dilemma, Not Okay, and of course, South Parks own visionary "The New Wendy" that that comically shows the effects on teenagers that choose to be not online anymore.

Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
10/10
Timeless
28 April 2022
So, back in about 2010, I (living in Europe) stumbled across this series. After seeing the first episode, I had to immediately call my movie-buff-friend to tell him to go watch it right away! (Normally, we would wait until our regular meet on Sunday to tell each other about good new stuff we'd seen).

. He was also immediately hooked and we discussed the developments of our now shared soul journey every week. In awe of the next level writing, cinematography and high production values.

. I never re-watch series, but at the hint of another friend I have started re-watching Breaking Bad from the start. In the first 2 episodes, I spotted some questionable decisions. But hey, they are not hardenend criminals at this point, I'll continue.

. I just saw S01E03, with Walter sitting opposite of Domingo. The heart-wrenching struggle, sorrow, fear and consequences sunk in to the core again.

. I know now I'm going to watch this masterpiece all to th end again. And it will again not be easy. Breadking Bad is rightfully the all-time top of *multi-season* series on IMDB. Simply the best TV every made.

Atlanta: Sinterklaas Is Coming to Town (2022)
Season 3, Episode 2
Sinterklaas is old
17 April 2022
Okay, as a Ducth guy, actually living in Amsterdam, I did find this episode funny. But please know that while Sinterklaas with "black pete" is still done for children in some parts of the country, it is never-ever done in an adult-only setting, and certainly not at pop concerts. Note: I'm not "pro" it, but this is an artistic exaggeration.

Close to home
21 December 2021
Darn it, this series is hitting so close to home, it's eerie.

Like literally portraying all big events in my life from the 80-ies.. And at 50-something now, I can help becoming emotional.

Very well done. I hope YS will continue forever.

Yes, that's irrational, I know... :-)

Its good
25 June 2021
I'm a big BBT fan, have watched them all.

Knew about this series a while, but thought it would be too childish.

Now at S01E04, and it's really hitting me in the gonads, emotionally speaking of course. :-) .

Great job, I'm going to watch them all!

Halt and Catch Fire (2014–2017)

Such high hopes, but ... argh!
16 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
To start off, I'm a Computer Science graduate that has been with the computer / internet industry since about the dawn of the PC (Apple ][). I really wanted to see this series because it would depict all the exiting innovations and dramatic battles what I have witnessed up close. And that have influenced my life greatly. . I've watched all 3 seasons now, reluctantly. And I must say, I'm *very* disappointed. Sure, the series is well made, and the acting is okay. But the main subject of the series, the tech industry, is almost completely pushed aside by unnecessary personal drama. The "soap opera" tactics, used to make this series interesting for a broader audience I presume, include: 1 Numerous inter-colleague affairs, 2 Bi-sexuality, 3 Life threatening illness, 4 Suicide, 5 Major crimes, 6 Always working behind each others backs, 7 Never listening to reason, never consult beforehand, 7 always make your life-changing decision in a snap. It's like watching "As the World Turns" with some tech thing happening once in a while. . Come on, script writers, you are better than this! You don't need all this cr*p to make it good. The tech industry has plenty of drama to make it interesting in itself. It's brutal, exciting, and even wrecks personal lives... Please do a better job for the next season and stick to the subject. Thank you.

South Park: World War Zimmerman (2013)

Classically awesome
12 October 2013
*Contains spoilers* I must confess that, as a foreigner, I was not aware of the Trayvon Martin ruling and the "stand your ground" laws. This classic episode of South Park brought me right up to speed on those controversial issues, swiftly and roughly. (I'm against the ruling and the law, BTW). This was a great opportinuty for Cartman to wreak havoc on the world, again :-). And the end scene just blew me away. Keep m coming, Trey and Matt! You're making a difference in the world. I'm required to write a few more lines by IMDb. Let's do a poem: The time has come, the walrus said, to talk of many things. Of shoes and ships an sealing wax. Of cabbages and kings.

From OK to worse
29 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
OK, so I'm a bit of a fan of spy movies. And this one started out pretty good by detailing the NSA and its day to day operations. The phone listening devices are pretty accurate but NO WAY THAT: 01 A civvy gets to roam around the NSA and give orders within the sanctuary. 02 A lowly listening operator gets to do more or less the same. 03 A lowly operator gets to the witness in Italy _before_ the NSA. 04 A super counterspy forgets to prevent counter attacks by his primary target (Tumbleweed). 05 A radio signal _explodes_ all listening equipment. 06 An NSA / CIA targeted counter-spy-group waits patiently for 'the-man-with-guns' to arrive on the mountain to kill them. 07 'The man' arrives slowly on-foot through the snow, in stead of by helicopter. 08 A fleeing wounded group stays ahead of well-funded government assassins that long (consider imaging satellites).

Contrary to the above, I did enjoy this movie a bit, but I am waiting for a more intelligent version of it.
