The Batman (2022)
no vision in todays directing
Good actors and big budget cant do nothing without directing vision. The movie tries to be noir by making the actors talk slowly and walk smoothly.. theres no built up to that. Its 3 hours of that, its like a child thought of whats cool.... noone is cracking a smile (cause they are cool...) we dont see any human elements, bad guys are always bad, good guys never make mistakes etc. Even the main villain (spoiler) is stuck in a shell, great plan to destroy a city but forget to escape...
The Story of Film: An Odyssey (2011)
perfect
My kind of documentary. A movie lover tells us his thoughts on movies. For anyone who likes the docus of zizek thats a less metaphoric but very detailed work. Not a fan of his voice though but idc after a while tbh. Ultimatelly its a point of view!
Bringing Out the Dead (1999)
last truly scorsese movie
Last collaboration of the director with paul schrader. its like a tribute to scorsese films made by the man himself. his last old school movie, after that the dicaprio era started with very good movies but not with the same dark new york trademark style we all love. i know his next one is gangs of new york but its more of a mel gibson movie to me. with movies like bringing out the dead i can see how the academy didnt want to give him the oscar. he was always radical and that movie his the last example!
Nocturnal Animals (2016)
owl we need is love
An ambituous idea with bad directing. It steals from adaptation, force majeure and la grande bellezza among others, but with no style at all. The actors are framed with mediocre dialogs and cant perform except from Shannon due to his role. Even the music seems to be pasted from a hitchcock's movie but here it doesnt fit...
Rushmore (1998)
best movie of all time
Perfect ballance of storytelling and anderson's quirkyness. all his movies that followed had more style over substance. the one b4 (bottle rocket) had less style that needed.
im guessing owen wilson was the perfect blend for that balance, but anyway whatever the reason thats my fav movie. every scene is made with so much heart and skill i laughed not only for the jokes but also for the perfection i just witnessed. i laughed of joy!!!! no spoilers or clues needed, go see it!
Diego Maradona (2019)
not as good as senna
I love senna and maradona. im 40 so i grew up with them. the problem here is not enough info about football. its coke, pregrnancy, malvides and crazy napoli fans. the director choose to emphasize in napoli years (6 1/2) but with senna we saw the whole 10 years with every detail. i dont care how maradona plays with his daughter, all parents love their children. but if you have to put it do a 3 hour docu. he misses great games like quorter finals with brazil in 90 and the oppening match with cameroon. the whole 88 season never mentioned, a year when napoli collapsed in the final rounds, or 89, a year when inter look unstoppalbe... not even the poor results in champions league and copa america! the team players are not mentioned nor the rivals like milan with holland players or inter or juve. bottom line maradona is too famous to make a docu about how semifinals with italy in 90 ignite the downfall of him and how he rise to stardom 4 years earlier. so its for younger people only or for those who dont know the life of maradona, but if you dont the book is much better!!!!
