Slow, weird art movie which leaves you dissapointed
25 October 2021
I really wanted to like it, but in the end I can't say that I do. The movie felt like it inserted weird scenes just for the hell of it, that did not make any sense. It is incredibly slow to the part I started jumping, and the music... No.

Feels like a weird art student had a movie idea and got funded. Weird to be weird, and throw in some fancy quotes in there to make it arty.

The acting is great, but that is about it.

After the movie it felt disappointing and like a waste of time.

Some credits for going for originality though.

Main leads ruin it
6 July 2021
I love these kind of fantasy movies but every time the main leads (especially the main male lead) spoke I cringed each time. Totally took me out of the movie, the acting and casting is just horrible. Eventually as much as I LOVED the worldbuilding I had to turn it off because it took me out of the movie every scene they interacted, Please do better casting in the future. Zero charisma, he might be ok as a villain cast at best.

A great sci-fi movie of human willpower and overcoming diversity
21 February 2021
When people ask me what my favorite movie of all time is I always answer Gattaca. It is a great combination of a good sci-fi movie which also contains a enormous amount of strong emotions and ethical struggles of our potential future.

On the front its a great science fiction story with great acting among the leads and their foes. It does great world building and brings up a large ethical problem that is ever coming closer as bio-engineering advances forward.

However as you look deeper its a great insight into human willpower and how much one can achieve through it despite having all the odds and disadvantages towards oneself. Overcoming diversity through pure, raw willpower is basically the tagline of this movie.

This movie breaks me down, makes me cry, and then rebuilds me with hope, motivation and inspiration every time I watch it.

Arthdal Chronicles (2019–2023)

Excellent writing
21 February 2021
I randomly started watching this TV show with 0 expectations outside a quick look at its imdb score, which is more than justified after having finished the first 18 episodes. The story arcs of the characters are very well done as not only does the characters grow and change (and it feels authentic) but also leads them down exciting new paths which leads to further discoveries in a amazing world.

The shows writing is excellent and as someone who usually have a easy time predicting TV shows often found myself clueless as what will happen next or very surprised by potential twists. I still remember laughing out loud as one character was doing something over dramatic and I remember thinking "what a cry baby" and it immediately cuts to another scene where one character calls him a "cry baby" (paraphrasing), as such the show is very self aware in a good way. The acting is excellent and as such never pulled me out of the story or the viewing experience.

Only downsides if I have to mention some is that some of the CGI (like "dangerous" animals) is not very well done and sometimes the pacing is a bit too slow for my liking. I would also want more insight and utilization of the two non-human races, I feel like their power and strength at times is underutilized.
