(500) Days of Summer (2009)
I agree with this guy who wrote the following
"The point is that this is REAL. I don't know why people are saying she's a liar when she isn't. She's very upfront about what she wants because that's genuinely what she thought. But then things escalated. That's how it works sometimes. Just because we think we want something doesn't mean it'll work out that way. And people get caught up. And by the time she was too far in she realized it was too late and he was in love. That doesn't make her a liar, it makes her human. Summer could've handled it better. Hanson could've also handled it better. He knew her intentions going in, but he got caught up. Just like the rest of us. It happens. There's no villain here, just human beings. If you're just gonna watch this movie and cry about how all women are evil because you're a pathetic excuse of a human, then please exit. This movie is heartbreaking, but also a good lesson. It may not be for everyone and that's ok, but no need to blame an entire gender for something a fictional character did (even though she didn't? Still confused where the "she's a liar" thing came in...). Watch this if you've ever gotten carried away with love, and hopefully you see the beauty :)"
I recently went through a similar experience in my relationship. Where my girlfriend of roughly 6 months at the time started to realize she didn't really want a relationship. Unlike Summer she never said she never wanted it, and she believed that she did want it. Then after a while she realized she didn't. It sucked so much for my sad ass, but I understood her. If anything that jsut hurt more, cause I genuily believed were where meant to be in so many ways. But I always knew we were too young(She was 18 and I 20) and combine that with a long distance (She was german and I'm from sweden). Loved her to death and she loved me. And she realized it was too early and too much, and perhaps that she never should've from the start. We don't chat, and we both miss each other's best friend. After watching this I've accepted the situation more, god it was relatable, but not in a sad way. It was a reassuring experience I suppose. I know we can be friends again, with time. Who knows, maybe one day we can try again. But who cares? What happened happend, and what will happen will happen!. Even though I would never want anyone else, I'll perhaps find my Autumn soon.
This is not a horror movie, a love movie or a tragic movie. This is a happy movie about life. Cause as much as it sucks, we're human this is how life sometimes goes.
One Day: Episode #1.5 (2024)
First half was brillaint, second half alright.
The first half where we follow Dexter and his life is gut wrenching, but beautiful. We get a deep insight to what is going on in his life and his state of mind. What tells the most isn't the spoken words but mostly how people act and how he acts. The emotions portrayed by the actor playing Dexter is heartaching to see.
Then we cut to Emma's date night after Dexter desperately tries to call her. And this whole second part contrasted everything else so much and the characters evidently had no Chemistry. It was quite painful to watch and took away of the impact of the prior scenes. Althrough it did showcase where Emma was at, it felt so contradicting and out of place. Some might argue that was the point of it, and I can definitely see that. But it took away of the emotions from the prior scenes.
I'm very excited to see how their lives continue to unfold. I haven't read the books and I don't have any clue what to expect. But I'm very invested in both of these souls trying to find their ways.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Everything I've ever wanted
I as well as many others grew up loving the first movie. Never had I ever seen anything like it as a child, watched the first movie more times than I remember. Young me fell in love with the nature, the beauty, the relations, the interior conflicts within each character. The story might have been simple and straight forward but that's what I loved about it. I loved the relations, the characters, the nature, the conflicts within and outside.
I couldn't believe when I walked out of the cinemas that James Cameron managed to capture the same feelings but better and just as uniquely. But the effects made me forget I was a sci-fi movie. I usually love seeing details in VFX and disecting scenes, and often you really notice it. But never have I seen a specticle that compare to this. There is nothing I can complain about, the beauty of the effects are almost to good. I've never been so invested in something that I completely forget it's real. James Cameron and his team made everything feel real. But the previously mentioned criterias for why I loved the first movie were done even better. Kiri's and Lo'ak's journeys throughout the movie are beautiful, I absolutely love what the Writing Team did to them.
Before I go to bananas writing over my overly excited self I will conclude shortly why I PERSONALLY think it's a 10/10.
Everything I've wanted, simple understandble story/plot, relatble and compelling characters, slow but engaging narrative, a complete unique world with completely unique life, beauty, long gorgeous shots, drawn out beautful scenes that set the tone and feeling of the moment. And atop it all a visual masterpiece beyond previous imagination. Visuals that captures the viewer in the world of Pandora so strongly that you forget you're in a cinema. Visuals so real the the reals thing(humans) feel odd and wrong. Visuals I get sad when I see the real world. Visuals so good it inspires me to help preserve our Pandora.
I can go on and on about what makes this movie so great for me. I'm not blind to some of the criticism the movie has faced, but for mre it's all irrellivent to the experience that I wanted and got.
Thank you again James.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Escape from Kadavo (2012)
Amazing Character moments and Story
My only real issue was that the supposedly huge population of slaves (An entire Race) is not even shown the slightest. In the earlier episode it's told that the entire population has been abducted but yet we only see a maximum of 50 individuals. It's never explained why and makes it confusing as to where the rest are, or if and entire planet was host of that few. Number aside, I thoughely enjoyed the episode in many ways. It was entertaining, had strong performances and great character moments. Favorite quite "I'm no jedi"
~8.5/10.
Doctor Sleep (2019)
Amazing fan-service, introduced, explained stuff metaphorically in a beautiful matter. Amazing cinematography and special effects.
Only problem: The Power of the shine was not very clear at times, although powerful it can be hard at times too see how. Their power was often to change or affect a person's psyche, too take advantage of, kill, mind control or brain wash.
It's not a big problem, but it made scenes sometimes awkward and annoying, because you never got too see a person's abilities or why they were there. Many members of the villain crew had this problem. But nonetheless amazing.
The Godfather Part II (1974)
The second Masterpiece of masterpieces.
It's soo close to Beat part 1 of The Godfather trilogy. If The Godfather is the greatest movie of all time, part 2 is the second greatest movie of all time and the world's best sequel of all time. Just watch it!
The Godfather (1972)
The masterpiece of masterpieces.
If you haven't watched it, then you're missing something. Never have I ever felt like a movie could feel so real. Amazing in every way.
Just watch it!
Midsommar (2019)
Traumatizing, dramatic, beautifully filmed, bizarre, uncomfortable.
9,5/10
The falling relationship was established well and the main character's parents dying was horrifying and amazingly shot with silent as the firefighters reveal the terrifying truth. On of the coolest scenes I've seen in a while, very very well made.
The friends reason for going to Sweden is well explained well established and the main characters traumatic experience really shows it's toll on the character.
The slow dying and uncertainty of every scene and ritual makes the daylight horror movie amazingly unpredictable, bizarre, unique and beautiful. It doesn't need jump scares to terrify audiences. The main character has a slow decent to madness after she's crowned may queen also worked really well. The first messed up ritual makes you question every ritual, even though some were harmless and just weird.
My only complaint about the movie is that the weirdness is over done in some instances, which also made the scene incredibly laughable (because it was so weird) Ex. The old people moaning during the sex scene. It's not even a big issue really, it just felt overdone in some scenes. The sex scene was too bizarre and made you go: why even put this in the movie? Other than that a perfect movie.
I can't explain the movie as it's truly a one of a kind, just watch it.
