A New Reality
9 December 2021
This series shows a whole new side to the mental health picture. It takes place, ostensibly, in a small psychiatric hospital in Australia and revolves around the patients and the psych doctors and nurses who care for them at times you'll wonder who's who. The protagonist is Nik who's going through a lot of internal pressures as he prepares for his sister's wedding day. Other than the story line and characters, the scenery I must say, is spectacular. There will be laughter and tears. Season 1 ends with plenty up in the air and I really want to see more. I hope it continues.

Great casting. Lots of talking in a huge New York apartment

I liked this movie. It was eerie and noisy and creaky. The family: the more they drank the darker things got. Secrets get spilled. Made me thankful for my family, actually. I wondered if it would veer into Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe territory, but it didn't. I'll just say I love Richard Jenkins and his performance was amazing in this as well. I kept wondering about the layout of the apartment and how big it was but that's just me. The cinematography was fantastic. It really set the scene.

Good! Really good! I want more! *spoilers*

Warning: Spoilers
I binged the show, as I am wont to do, and I'm so glad I did. Truthfully, this is a very sad, grey, overwhelmingly painful series. Great characters (deep and complex) going through life in a small, dying town in the rust belt. Mix in criminals, violent men taking out their emotions on others drug addiction, political grandstanding -- sounds awful, doesn't it? But it's not. The Season left us with these cliffhangers. So many cliffhangers. I really really really really really really hope there's more to this (although I love a good ambivalent ending) just because I want to see more. There has to be a silver lining somewhere right?

Really good. And scary

Warning: Spoilers
This is the ultimate nightmare of a person who tells different "truths" to different people. But now they're all together, and somehow comparing stories. I had this sinking feeling of dread waiting for the other shoe to drop. And, yet, our "heroine" keeps digging that hole, thinking somehow she'll escape the inevitable. Sweet in parts, too. This whole premise made me uncomfortable and I kept cringing for what they were going through.

OMG! That can't be Kevin James!

Warning: Spoilers
Just finished watching it and can't wait to watch it again. I didn't know you could commit such mayhem with art pencils and a ruler. I laughed outloud several times because I was sooo rooting for Becky. Yeah, girl! You go! But at the end I'm a little scared. For her and by her. I would have never guessed that was Kevin James in such a dark role. He was terrifying, but Becky was a strong opponent. Freaky good movie. Fast paced and captivating.

Holy moly. What a mess

Warning: Spoilers
This is a thriller? With Leon Redbone songs woven through? Poor Debra Winger having to repeat this dialog ... it's like a list of words was scrambled together. One minute she's up. One minute she's down and none of it makes sense. I kept thinking "why am I bothering with this". Maybe the pandemic has worn me out and I've become masochistic. I watched it all the way through, all the Leon Redbone songs... it could have been billed a comedy and made more sense. Don't bother.
