Lisa Frankenstein (2024)
Extremely lacking
It wants to be Burton but fails insurmountably. It wants to be funny but the "comedy" felt extremely forced and predictable. I'm a big fan of oddball, quirky, dark films and wry humor, but this film was such a disappointment. Who read this screenplay and funded this?
Kathryn Newton wasn't bad, but Cole Sprouse was cast poorly here. He's typically great in everything I've seen but this character could of been played by a no name as they writing didn't give the actor much to work with here, lines or no lines.
I feel as though I've seen it all and when you're out of stuff to watch you tend to be a bit more open minded and appreciate films for overall entertainment value moreso than storyline or plotholes, but I'm and through pissed I wasted my time on this one.
Betrayal: The Perfect Husband (2023)
I love true crime and docu series but this was awful.
I love true crime and docu series but this was awful.
So this woman was cheated on and became so obsessed with her own victimhood she made a whole podcast and docuseries? Its extremely common, but this woman is obviously still spraling and thinks her story should be told for all to see?
The real victim is the child that was taken advantage of and yet 85% of this series is about the lady that was cheated on. The majority of that being about her supposedly amazing love affair with her ex husband. 3 parts was not needed, they could of covered the love affair in 15 mins. I couldn't stop laughing about how this was supposed to be about the assaulted child, but they just threw that in at the very end. Seemed very self absorbed. What did I just watch?
Clique (2017)
Holly will do anything to get out of class
I'm just wondering how Holly is going to catch up from multiple semesters where instead of going to class or studying, she's running around doing her detective work and trying to get people to own up to their misdeeds lol.
Moonfall (2022)
Absolutely Epic!
I feel like anyone who didn't like Moonfall probably didn't like 2012 either. Well I love both and this is now going in my arsenal of MUST watch ever few years. Great cast, great story, suspenseful, funny, and outrageous action. Absolutely epic.
I May Destroy You (2020)
A whirlwind and very relatable
Most people who don't like the show either didn't actually pay attention to it (because things they mention they didn't get were pretty obvious) or they didn't like the characters because they weren't supposedly likeable enough which is silly because the characters weren't written to be likeable, they were written to be real and people in real life are complicated so imo this aspect was well done.
Some people mentioned the show being a bit chaotic and blamed the writer for being new at her craft. Well, again, if you were truly following the show you would see that the chaos is a representation of Bella's brain/life. This is one of those rare pieces that really puts you in the main character's shoes and mindset and allows you to feel what shes feeling. That is, unless you're completely devoid of empathy. Her trauma, her joy, her confidence, when she's defeated, her arrogance and shame, her loyalty and kindness. Sometimes you even hate her, much like you hate yourself when you've acted in a way you're ashamed of later on. All these feelings/ways of being are displayed independently and sometimes in many different combinations. Add in dealing with multiple traumas and you now live in constant chaos.
A complicated person, but a real person. Effing refreshing if you ask me.
The Turning (2020)
Horrible
Just came here to say don't waste your time. There is no world in which you'll like this movie, even if you're someone like me who tends to disagree with mainstream audiences. I just dont want anyone, even my worst enemies, to waste a precious 1.5 hours of their evening on this garbage.
Onward (2020)
Easy 10/10
This has been added to my list of favorite movies. I found it to be extremely clever, funny, inspiring, heartfelt and, well, magical. Pretty much everything you want in a mate, you get in a movie. The graphics are incredible too, but no surprises there.
A Haunted House (2013)
Comedy at its finest
I dont think there exists a more likeable comedy duo. Brilliantly written and acted. My friends and I have probably seen this movie 10+ times and it doesn't get old. I laughed all the way through, again!
Mr. Robot (2015)
A marvel
Some of the most incredible story writing, editing and acting to date. Been watching since day 1 and I have never finished an episode without it either blowing my mind or causing me to ponder life for days thereafter.
There is honestly a hole in my heart now that it's over, but the writing is so truly brilliant that they've given me closure and I can move on feeling like I've lived, learned, and grown as a person during my realtionship with this show.
Although I can't imagine I'll love a show this much ever again, I'm a better person because of it.
