It's a matter of perspective
13 March 2013
I have to concur with another reviewer in that this movie causes one to stand in awe at of the synergy of bad science, absurd logic, and inexplicable behavior.

You stop watching the story, and watch the movie, wondering how it could have happened.

I mean, people put this together on purpose.

After a bit, I concluded that this was improvisational film making.

They must have handed the actors random lines, given the effects department random props from bankrupt studios, and a pile of cgi rejects from Irwin Allen's basement.

Then they told them to make a movie about a biblical flood.

I can't swear that's what happened, but it fits the final product.

After i reached this conclusion, about 12 feet of cleavage into it, the rest of the movie was much more fun.

A four hour mini series jam packed into 10 hours
19 June 2012
A workmanlike treatment of the colonial war against England.

A nod is given to home grown terrorist groups such as the Sons of Liberty, where we see both their instigation of the incident in Boston Common, and their cynical manipulation to further their tax rebellion.

Footage is recycled a little to obviously.

One scene portraying Washington in a state of annoyance was used no less than three times in unrelated segments.

Episode 12 has no reason to exist, it's just a recap of the entire series, done in annoying and pointless flashbacks.

The writing is pretty bad in places. If you turn subtitles on, the bad textual choices are obvious enough to pause it ans ask yourself did-they-really-just-say-that?

It's a shame that they were able to get the facts basically correct, but could not make an entertaining story out of events so fraught with intrigue and drama.

Hands down - worst ever
1 December 2010
I saw this while on a sub patrol in the early 80's.

We were having a competition to see who could watch the most movies during one patrol.

This was 16mm - pre vcr days.

I had to change the last reel myself, as everyone else, including the projectionist, walked out.

This movie remains the worst I've ever seen.

And that includes the documentary on iceberg lettuce I once watched at 3am in Aiea, HI while peaking on red dragon.

It's not even so-bad-it's-good - it's just bad.

I've tried to find a copy again over the years, to no avail until recently.

I see it's now available on amazon.

Watch me not reach for my credit card.
