Jeepers Creepers O Regresso (2023)
More monster and truck than ever before.
The creeper is one of the best movie icons out there in my opinion, and this movie just delivers the same punch as the first one did.
The overall depth of this storyline isn't as good as the first film buts it's equally entertaining. The opening scene really sets the tone for the film. The character development and setup in this is very good.
The action was great, some of the effects awesome and funny.
One of the best things a sequel can do is do something different with the same idea. This movie does that well, making it a romp of a monster movie more than the original's more horror-based theme.
The Exterminator: Retribution (2022)
Corruption, violence on a city in flames.
Director Constantino digs deep in the life of the exterminator´s son, proving that violence is the only way to stop the killings and the siege from the enemy´s that prey on society.
Jake Eastland ins´t a superhuman, just a quiet, reflective man wielding a very, very big flamethrower, in a dark savage world.
Sith Wars: Episódio I - O Regresso dos Sith (2021)
In the continuation of the prequels, i really liked it a lot.
The darkside takes over and this movie is for all the fans who love the foundation of the sith because almost every sith warrior is here.
For that alone i´m giving this movie a 9 and i will only give 10 to the next episode if it surpasses this one.
Halloween: Filho Pródigo (2021)
Very different, and that's mostly a good thing.
The opening few minutes were awesome, I loved what they did, and how they did it, creative, well realised, and somehow respectful, it was incredible, it really did work.
The storyline was modern but yet paid homage to the original, like the introduction of the new character the son of Loomis.
The scares, the violence, the stupid decisions, it all came together to make one killer movie.
The Thing: O Regresso (2021)
The Thing part two...
The John Carpenter original was rightly celebrated for its surreal effects, giving audiences something that was genuinely cutting edge and never seen before at the time.
But now this sequel, covers the next day were a team tries to contact oupost 31, without sucess, and the investigation begins again, soon they find the base destroyed and the spaceship on ice, but soon learn that it is still alive and has the ability to assume the shape of that which it kills.
After the alien has proved to infect several humans already, extreme paranoia and distrust breaks out among the surviving crew, then there´s someone among them that is sending messages to the military, we see them with trucks and weapons, a biological crew, soldiers, helicopters.
So John (Rui Constantino also the director) assumes the type leader and along with Doc (Miguel D. Dias) take the survivors into open areas and investigate methods to expose the monsters. Tensions run extremely high, as they did in John Carpenter's, and at these moments I felt The Thing sequel had a good thing going for it.
The suspense was thrilling and engaging, and aliens were bursting out of bodies at wholly unexpected times. The acting is consistently solid.
This film is a perfect companion piece to Carpenter's film. Solid filmmaking!
O Mundo Dos Anjos (2020)
Absolutely stunning.
I found the movie very inspiring.
It made me see that it's worth living, for however brief a period of time and despite everything.
The screenplay particularly is very good. The conversation between them are beautiful.
The sets are wonderful, and the music oh man the best i have seen in film its lovely makes you smile makes you cry.
9/10
Inimigo Desconhecido: Enemy Unknown (2020)
Innovative, and full of believable action.
Enemy Unknown is a fairly simple story; it's essentially a sci-fi version of the Predator, but with awesome updates.
The direction by Constantine adds the final piece to the puzzle; the cinematography of the jungle is appropriately hot, steamy, and claustrophobic, and the quick pacing of the film moves rapid fire between all-out action and the tension, it's very suspenseful and fits in perfectly with the scenes.
The title character of the film is very cool, with his own special weapons, and i won´t forget the smart gun at the very end, transforming everything to ashes.
The death scenes are actually pretty tasteful, given the genre. They are just gory enough to illustrate the violence of the enemy without being gratuitous.
Rating: 8/10
Aliens: A Redenção (2019)
The Xenomorphs are back in an outstanding sci-fi short movie
I've been a fan of this series for over 25 years now, and i must say that this short movie is really powerfull, the actors did a good job, and the story is very compelling.
You can't run from the aliens! There's no hiding from the aliens! They will totally get you!
The soldiers have a mix of armor´s, including the new armor of the lieutenant and the old one from (Aliens)
The weapons are all there, including the new pulse rifle, that fire´s some sort of power pulse purple shot, that destroy´s aliens completely.
One thing that surprised me was the amount of Alien Queen´s, there´s lots of them.
After the credits we see for the first time in an Alien movie the egg silo that the engineers created to bring Aliens to life, were we see inside more than a hundred eggs.
I hope they can do more shorts likes this, i really loved it.
A Chamada 2 (2019)
A new dark chapter of evil, where bad guys are in charge...
If you thought the last chapter was dark, this one will really blow your mind.
Agent Caetano is trapped inside a building, listening to the purifier telling him, that he is going to suffer a lot, they start by killing the entire police department
(including Chief Torres) but he ins´t dead, we see him return, in the end of the movie, killing a bunch of breeder´s soldiers (is that crazy).
So Caetano has to get past the traps, kill all oponents like a real saw game, one of the best scenes is his escape on the motorcycle, on a trail of explosions prepared by breeder.
The final act, is to be remembered for years to come, full of violence and gore, the voodoo man is a weirdo sayin chants to call the demon from the institute to take over Caetano, it´s real horror my friends.
Loved this sequel, the post-credits scene is great, and i really hope, to see another chapter, in the years to come.
