Sladke sanje (2001)
Sweet Dreams - Slovenian way
Egon (Janko Mandic) is a poor thin child who more then anything in the world wants a record player. His mother, played by Veronika Drolc, presents a great problem - she is histerical and mentally ill, living with her old mother who is old fashioned in every way. Tough, ha? Well, don`t underestimate power of teenagers - Egon gets himself through all the normal and strange problems that he has and finnaly gets his reward. His dreams are sweet, but sad and full of pain at the same time. Scriptwriter Miha Mazzini and director Saso Podgorsek have done a wonderfull job bringing "old socialistic Slovenia" back to life and Sladke sanje is a nice portrait of times that are so gone but still in minds of our parents, uncles, grandmothers...Forever here somewhere. Like dreams.
House on Haunted Hill (1999)
Breathtakingly stupid
I`m actually shocked that such a good actor (I`m talking about Geoffery Rush, not any other bozos in this stupidity), with all his breathtaking preformances (remember The Quills?) took a role in this B - shocker that feeds not on our fears but on millions of other movies, timeless horror flicks form 50`es. I`m not going to tell you about the plot, because if you are not a complete moron you`ll figure it out in first 15 minutes of this movie - everything is predictable, boring, too slow or too fast, full of chlishes and not interesting at all - our neighbours house is more scary than that old mansion. Highly unrecommended.
