This is a true story
12 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I mean it happened indeed in real life and it is a great realistic movie with Anthony Hopkins doing an excellent role as Nicholas Winton who ln 1938 went to Prague and rescued 669 children most of them Jewish from the Nazis who were about to invade Czechoslovakia, acting to lead them to Uk safely. Later on he began to suffer of psychological guilt, feeling that he should have rescued more children and was guilty of not having done it. At the end of the movie, however, a TV show introduced him to several adults who were surviving children he had saved and this has put an end to his grief that had tormented him for about 50 years. This was well shown in the movie including repeated past scenes of the 1938 events.

Romantic
4 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Romantic but also realistic. Julie is a young film student who is trying to make a film telling the story of a young boy and his mother in Sunderland. It is not very easy and she is worrying about what her professors will think of that. Meanwhile she goes to class and attends parties with her film school friends. She meets Anthony who works for the government and from then on her life is complicated since she fells in love with him and they begin to live together. That does not go well since Anthony has a troubling and mysterious behaviour going in and out very often till Julie discovers that he is consuming heroin. At a certain time he becomes overdosed and dies. She returns to school and her film after having lost her former innocence. All this is well shown and performed by all the cast.

real story
21 March 2024
This movie is based on a book written by Priscilla, a former wife of the famous rock and roll famous star Elvis Presley. This means that the story is real. If it is true or not in every detail we don't know and it is not very interesting. The teen age girl, Priscilla, and Elvis fell in love with each nother and we don't know exactly how their first meeting happened. Then they got married but their mariage was not very happy since Elvis was often absent due to his acting career. And Priscilla was still a student and her work was also not very well performed. This is not a bad movie but not a good one either. So so.

Too dark
24 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is rather uninteresting. Too dark images even in extremely violent scenes where it is difficult to understand who is beating whom. The story is simple though a bit confusing. Edward was kidnapped while a baby (we don't know by whom and whereto). Now he appears as adult and with a strong wish to search for his biological parents and family. He lives now in USA and has an American girlfrend, Ryley who helps him in his search. He begins by subjecting is DNA to investigation and we don't exactly how, he finds who his lost mother and twin brother are and where they live. He goes to meet them at their home. But instead of meeting friendly surroundings he soon finds himself seeing a monstrous secret that acts violently against him and Ryley. A movie with several lacks in its story.

Men and machines
19 January 2024
A brilliant movie telling us the story of Enzo Ferrari a real ex-racecar driver that now (1957 summer) is changed into a famous car company entrepreneur facing bankruptcy. This splendid movie is based in true real events happening in Italy at that time. Ferrari's company was set up by him and his wife Laura (Penelope Cruz, an excellent character). Therefore he tries to save things by entering a great race, the Mille Miglia, that runs 1.000 miles across Italy, putting well known drivers there. However his private life is not going well since he has a bad relationship with is wife Laura among other reasons because of an adulterous case he has with the beautiful Lina (Shailene Woodley). The most amazing aspect of this movie is the womdeful filmimg of the car races.

Poor story indeed
24 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is supposed to be a sci-fi story but it is too poor even for that for lack of useful imagination. So simple as this: AN unidentified space object is approaching Earth at a terribly high speed threatening too strike awfully against it at the New York area. But the object slows down and it shows itself as a large sphere that brings an alien being and a huge robot with extraordinary power. The alien being reveals itself with a human-like form. The authorities try to fight the threat since the alien being whose name is Klaatu tells that he has come to save the Earth of destruction by extrateterrestrial powers. Dr. Helen Benson is a scientist that is summoned by the military to help them to understand the threat and fight it. But it happens that Dr. Benson and Klaatu quickly sympathize with each other and she helps him to evade persecution and convinces him to save mankind since what is planned is to save the Earth but killing human mankind. That is the whole story told even with poor Images and talking scenes.

Too complicated
28 November 2023
Too full of dramatic troubles and problems. Not a good movie but not a bad one either since it keeps you entertained for the whole time of the casting. The small-time thief Alvin Sanders gets himself in a lot of troubles and vexations since the time on which he gets himself jailed for stealing some prawns from a restaurant and is put in a cell with John Jaster a high-tech criminal thief whose team had stolen $42.000.000 of gold from the Federal Reserve. Since Jaster had a bad heart condition and is afraid to die he uses Alvin to find the whereabouts of the gold that is hidden somewhere. This puts Alvin into a lot of troubles and fights even violent.. This keeps you arrentive and entertained through the whole movie time.

Too complicated
27 October 2023
Too complicated. Everything begins when in 1920 oil is found in the Osage Nation land in Oklahoma. The situation is a bit mysterious when the Osage people begin to be murdered one after one by the whites of course. This despite the fact that there are important interracial marriages when some white men marry Osage girls. Murders happen also in these mixed families although by personal motives based on material wealth greed. The parts are greatly performed by excellent actors and actresses such as Leonardo DiCaprio as Ernest Burkhart, Lily Gladstone as Moliie Burkhart and Robert De Niro as William Hale. Mollie and Ernest fell in love with each other and get married. Mollie is an Osage and Ernest a white man. A excellent movie to be seen.

It entertains
19 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is not exactly what we would call a good movie, just an entertainment one. Just because its story doesn't offer itself more. One of its aspects is however good: the visual scenes, effeects and images of the space ship interior with all its gadgets, machines, appliances and instruments. The movie story and plot is very simple and can be summed up like that: a scientist space ship with a six member crew travels in the space near Mars when it meets a living creature that invades the ship and attacks its crew kiling even four of them. That creature begins to be a small cell but it keeps growing and growing till it becomes a strange monster full of aggressive tentacles. The whole movie projection is the fight of the crew with that being until only two survivors remain in the end coming back to Earth. It keeps you entertained around two hours or so.

How is infidelity?
19 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I appreciate Woody Allen's movies. He always tells stories about common ordinary people to whom unpredictable things (but sometimes also usual) happen. This is the case in this movie where Fanny and Jean live a happy marriage, loving each other deeply till thr moment when Fanny unpredictably meets Alain. An old high school fellow starting a love relatiomship after a short friendship one. This turns out into drama even a violent one when Jean knows Fanny's infidelity and arranges a plan to get Alain secretly killed. When Fanny's mother suspects it and tries to investigate it, Jean also plans to kill her himself but ends up by being killed by mistake by a hunter in a forest. This is a well made movie in every aspect but the story is not particularly interesting.

Some rehearsal
13 October 2023
And some problems because the theatre rehearsal woman director wants the young actress Madeline to have a great performance. The whole movie is the story of a theatre rehearsal where the actors and actresses talk to each other about their lives and problems. The young Madeline brings psychologically her personal troubles to her rehearsal performance mainly those who derive from her relationship with her mother. She performs this very well being adnired by the director and by the other performers. This is well shown in all the scenes by the performers' talent, chiefly by the young Madeline's character.

Almost meaningless movie
9 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
And a bit full one. Michele, a Communist party member and a water-polo player has lost his memory due to a car accident. But strangely indeed he goes on playing water-polo while the other players and the trainer coach try to animate him and lead him to remember scenes of his past. And this is all along the movie. Michele has a strange behaviour and speech, talking often of the communist party and what commuism means and wants in society. There are also a few scenes of Michele when he was a child, a rebel one. It ends "tragically" (!!!!!!) when Michele fails a penalty in a water-polo game that would have given victory to his team. A poor plot as a matter of fact. And we don't even understand what is the relationship between the movie title, "Little red dove" and the movie content.

Unintersting movie
2 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Because pratically it has no valuable plot. Only the sequence of a series of sometimes violent scenes caused by the sudden presence of a strange living unknown creature that must be chased and killed or expelled. This occurs in a spaceship where its crew is turning home And that is all about this movie along its projection. The positive thing is only the real conception of the apaceship interior with all its apparatus, tools appliances, machines and buttons. At a certain moment the scientist member of the crew reveals himself of being a robot for the surprise of the others. It ends by the death of all the crew nenbers except one that manages herself to get away before the final explosion and destruction of the spaceship. And that is all.

Inadmissible
6 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Cannibalism is a crime that cannot be justified of disguised by any romantic relationships. And the characters of this movie are all or almost all cannibals and some of them even kill people and eat them.. It doesn't matter if they have problems physical or psychological. Therefore a movie about cannibals has no interest at all despite the the fact that some of them have another problems or even fall in love with one another. The story is about a young girl that leaves her home after being abandoned by her father and travels along USA looking for her mother she practically never had met. In the course of this she meets a young man who is a disenfranchised drifter and they fall in love with each other. After a fight in which he was badly wound he asks her to eat him after he dies. Incredible movie.

Barbie (I) (2023)

Cute movie
2 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is the story of old doll Barbie (since many years ago but presented here as a young beautiful woman). She is suffering a crisis about herself and her existence and wants to go to the real world to have it solved. We see nice images from the real world and the Barbie's world and see several other Barbie doll types all along the movie. This story develops itself by a lot of conflicts mainly because at a certain time her lover Ken betrays her and tries to be the leader of Barbie's world which makes Barbie and her allies to fight him and his followers till the end in several intricate scenes till he is defeated and Barbie becomes a real woman with the help of Ruth, her creator. Not a particularly good movie in terms of story but technically excellent.

Terrific movie
1 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
But well presented in an almost permanent hurricane of violent fighting, chase and explosions. The last battle is terrific indeed. The story can be summed like that: The main problem is a deadly virus crated by the terrorist group Eteon which can be very dangerous for the world and mankind. Of course it is necessary to take the virus off Eteon's hands. It begins by Hattie Shaw, a MI6 agent seizing the virus during a fight with Eneon's agents and injecting it in her right hand. After that the movie develops itself in the chase Eteon's agents move to Hattie to get the virus back. Then she is helped by her brother Desmond and Luke Hobbs, a friend. The three fly to Samoa, Hobbs birthday home where his family still lives and all ends in a fierce battle when Eteon's agents invade Samoa to be defeated by the tree with the help of Samoans. A not particularly good movie but that keeps your attention till the end.

Youth life
24 August 2023
And behaviour. This movie tells the story of Jeff Dahmer as a high school student in his relationship with colleagues. It is based on Jeff's real biography since he existed a a real person, a serial killer who has killed lots of youngsters, dismembered them and even cooked and ate parts of their bodies. The movie doesn't show anything of this, only the strange behaviour of a young student maybe cruel to animals, killing them and -- as he himself told -- dissolving them in acid. I hope that during the film shooting no animals, either fishes or cats, were really killed since this is totally forbidden in cinema. All the young actors and actresses do a good job but the story is uninteresting.

Too many explosions
7 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
But a good animation movie anyway. The main theme is the opposition and contradiction between fire and water here shaped as human beings. The two main characters are Ember a fire girl whose hair is in flames and Wade a water boy whose body is full or running water. Besides their natural opposition and even hate they end up by falling in love with each other, overcoming tenderly that bad relationship. The movie is full of expressive characters despite their fire and water shapes and forms. It is very original and pleasant to look at. Even if one doesn't like animation movies will appreciate this one.

Deep love story
13 July 2023
A deep love relationship develops itself between Ed Phoerum, a professor and astronomer and Amy Ryan, a young student and movie actress, despite the fact that not only she is much younger than him but also they are apart and at some distance from each other, seldom meeting physically. But he sends her videos with passionate messages. He suffers a sudden death (he was very ill) which does not impede their relationship going ahead like if he was still alive because he had a plan consisting of having written many messages to her and made some videos that without her knowledge he has given to people he knew with the charge of giving them to her at periodic dates coinciding with some important events of her life . This combines her anguish with the pleasure she has on reading his messages (in letter form) and watching his videos and led her to look for those people to get information and take the letters and videos. A quite strange story but well told, directed, acted and filmed.

Dramatic story
5 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is really dramatic but well told, shown, acted and directed. It's the psychological conflict between the present and memories of the past, a tragic one. Araci was a Brazilian (an Indian?) who lived in the Amazonian region and whose daughter was murdered by ranchers making her, her husband and her granddaughter to emigrate to Mertola in Portugal where past memories of Indian traditional values and customs still prevail in her mind and behaviour. Her husband dies and she and her granddaughter live in a truly floating house, bound at the river's bank. Her memories are so severe that she finishes to take her granddaughter to the Amazonian forest where she cries while seeing the criminal action of the timber-merchants against the beautiful trees. Important images of the movie are the big close-ups of human faces showing the two women's sentiments, feelings and reactions.

Not good for children
26 May 2023
Animation movies are of three kinds: those that are adequate for chidren only, those that are adequate for adults only and those that can be seen by both. This movie is of the second kind since it is totally improper and inadequate for children as being valueless and uneducational. It develops itself through constant and almost permanent scenes of strong and hard violence, explosions, fights, struggles and fires all the time and no beautiful scenes or poetic speeches and dialogues. The story is very simple: Mario is a Brooklyn plumber who joins the Princess Peach of the Mushrom kingdom, trying to look for and find his disappeared brother Luigi and fighting the monster Bowser who is an evil danger for the world. Not particularly original.

Technically great
22 May 2023
Those who love sci--fi movies will surely love this one . Those who don't will appreciate it because its images, scenes and sequencies are superb. The story itself is the continuation of the two previous volumes. It takes place in a far away galaxy planet in a future very far away from the Earth's past. The main subject is the continuation of the opposition and fight of the Guardians and the High Evolutionary. The Guardians are led by the terrestrial Peter Quill. The movie develops itself in successive physical and technologic fights shown through great and powerful technologic images of course with computer help. The characters are human beings that behave like animals and animals that behave like human beings and are actually anthropomorphic. The action is strong and permanent during the movie's exhibition. One of the best sci-fi movies as a matter of fact.

Somewhat odd and uninteresting
3 May 2023
A well made and acted movie (with well presented very hard scenes) but the story is so odd that it becomes somewhat uninteresting. Justine is a teenager who comes from a strictly vegetarian family like she herself of course is. She goes to a veterinarian school where she meets her older sister Alexia and there she is subject to several hard and disgusting hazing rituals by the students already there. This includes she having to ear raw flesh. This develops a strong will in her, to eat raw flesh which later turns out in human flesh which develops a lot of dramatic hard scenes some of them even violent where her sister Alexia who is also a cannibal takes part too sometimes. This movie keeps you attentive and entertained despite not very interesting.

A story of sickness and love
10 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was the real true story of Robin and Diana Cavendish a wonderful couple in terms of love and support. Robin got the polio disease when he was still in his twenties and was recently married with Diana. He went to the hospital where they gave him only a few months life. However he left the hospital and with the support of his loving and dedicated wife, Diana, and the scientific help of his friend the inventor Teddy hall he managed to survive many years until he decided to die peacefully and practised euthanasia. These last scenes are particularly moving with the farewell scenes of his wife and son and even some friends. Andrew Garfield as Robin and Claire Foy as Diana have great acting perfiormances all along the movie.
