Balkanskiy rubezh (2019)
Absolutely better than I thought!
Although evidently controversial for many Western viewers, but it's also rightfully FAIR to show the world this perspective for once Moreover, AWESOME explosive effects & action! One of my favourite modern War films made in a region I consider more or less my second home (Bosnia-Herzegovina to be exact). This film makes the "little guys" from the other side heard for once, without demonizing the giant conglomerate & luxurious airbase in yet another corrupted & poor European country under the guise of "peace".
Nesokrushimyy (2018)
It's OK... my simple answer
The battle scenes among the tanks kept me watching indeed. Perhaps because of the quality of the sound of my DVD and the lack of soundtracks found in some other films, this film did seem more mediocre o me - although the tank scenes were good and some parts still enticed me to see
what would happen next. Not a bad film - but less impressive than many other Russian war films indeed. Definitely, far from the movie "T-34"
T-34 (2018)
Simply SUPERB!
They've nailed it for an epic War film! This action-packed film offers amazing effects and battle scenes. Bravo work from RU... among many other surprisingly impressive works in their developing cinematographic industry.
Podolskie kursanty (2020)
Another epic & impressive Russian war film...
Awesome Russian war film with superb effects. I admit that they have a little 'too many' of them, dominating a lot of the cinematography... but they surely do a wonderful job executing their film works nevertheless. Let's just say that I was never into War films - until I started watching more and more of them from the Russian perspective. Hollywood East is just as good as Hollywood West = NEUTRALY fantastic!
Central do Brasil (1998)
Surprisingly GOOD
When I was a teenager, I was brought into the cinema to watch this along with my classmates. I had hesitated with doubts how "entertaining" such movie could have an effect on me. That was in year 1999, and of course, I had walked out of that tiny cinema with my jaws dropped and teary eyes. Til this day, this movie still moves me...and I own a copy of it.
Friends (1994)
Repetitive, yet Addictive
I can watch this a thousand times and I still won't get sick of it! In fact, I've even bought some DUPLICATE copies from other countries with MULTI-LANGUAGE audio/subtitles for the sake of language lessons & practicing. It's an easy and just a "feel-good" & enlightening show to watch. Even their flaws & predictability are simple to overlook...
ZeroZeroZero (2019)
From SUPERB (to DISAPPOINTMENT due recent announcement)
One of the BEST TV Series I got hooked on. Anticipating for Season 2 only came to a sheer disappointment (that it suddenly became a "mini-series" and that Season 2 would not realize). Nevertheless, one of the FEW TV Series that'd glue my eyes onto the television...
Ozark (2017)
The first TV Series I never thought I'd get HOOKED on...
I had started watching Season 2 with some hesitation. The next thing I realized, was that I was going backwards to Season 1 ...and then craving for Season 3. I think that says a lot. What an impressive GEM!
The Dyatlov Pass Incident (2013)
Some real scare factors & unexpected twists...
Another movie I can easily watch more than once. The ending was a bit confusing, but it's still little reason to discredit the entire movie for this. I won't lose too much sleep over analyzing over this one... For myself, the entire Dyatlov Pass incident became interesting to me nevertheless.
Chernobyl Diaries (2012)
Easy film to like (and dislike?)
A simple horror flick I enjoy watching more than once ...with some very good scare & creepy factors. It's well-paced entertainment without so much of those looooong-drawn "character-developing" scenarios (come on, let's not fall too deeply in love with fictional characters after all :))
Epidemiya (2019)
Surprisingly good! I'm impressed!
I can't wait for the second season already. VERY well-done (as much as I am TIRED of anything to do with epi-/pandemic topics). From cinematography, acting, soundtrack, and action to special effects...
Yaga. Koshmar tyomnogo lesa (2020)
Perhaps I anticipated too much...
...albeit, still well-done! However, it did not have as much scare-factor as I had hoped for (but then again, very few horror films nowadays do that anymore...) Great quality and effects, still. But if you're just discovering modern Russian cinema - they're better at genres such as War, Sci-Fi, and even Disaster films. However, if you just want some ordinary good ol' modern horror flick, why not this one too...
Privorot. Chernoe venchanie (2021)
Decent...
Modern Russian Cinema often impresses at War, Sci-Fi, & Disaster films ...sometimes, they're surprisingly good. But in my opinion, they still fall slightly short on the Horror genre. I have yet to see one that chilled me to the bone... some have a few scare & creepy scenes, with superb atmospheric filming & effects. But nothing out of ordinary or unique if we're used to watching horror films that already exist on our shelves. As a matter of fact, the ENTIRE HORROR GENRE has deteriorated across the globe for the most part in recent years. Not sure what the problem is...
Ekipazh (2016)
Awesome air disaster film
Superb effects, and a cool watch for any airline, aviation, and disaster film fanatic! The setting/location may seem little bit unrealistic or "fairy-tale" - but nevertheless, it's just a movie - and they had still done a very impressive job executing this film indeed. Another easy & entertaining movie to watch more than once.
Ogon (2020)
Overall superb!
Great entertainment, cinematography, soundtrack, and visual effects. English dubbing is as usual - not the greatest (but what dubbing is?!) Surprisingly, it's a movie I can easily watch more than once just for the sake of good ol' 'disaster genre fun' on a big screen TV. It beats many other over-analytical and drawn-out talkies indeed.
