Apples Never Fall (2024)
Not a single likable character. Predictable. The mom is an absolute moron
Maybe I came into this with too high of expectations, because I absolutely loved big little lies, ( the book and the show)
First off, I guess what happened to the mom from the very beginning and it wasn't hard. Every single one of her children is insufferable there is no character development. They are all just rich, spoiled brats. You don't feel bad for any of them because they all create their own misfortune. The dad was OK. I really felt indifferent about him. Savannah was the best character of all I found myself rooting for her, the one you're supposed to hate the most.
I knew it was going to be a garbage show after the third episode but I've been in a tv rut, so I finished the season and it was disappointing. Annette Benning was very annoying and it was hard to believe someone could be so mind numbingly, stupid and gullible.
I can see why HBO didn't pick this up like they did in big little lies.
The Crowded Room (2023)
Tom being a great actor does not negate it being a snooze fest
It was obvious from the beginning that the other characters were imaginary. Especially because most people know this story. The build up was way too slow. Holland is a great actor but it still bored me to tears. The Netflix documentary was far more interesting.
Love Amanda Siegfried but she didn't really add much to the story or make it any more interesting. A great cast can't fix a poorly done show.
It also felt like there were a lot of plot holes. Tons of time spent on things that were insignificant but no answers to things that really mattered. I feel like a lot of the good reviews are from people who just love Tom holland.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Great sequel. Made me want to rush home and watch the original
I'm so happy I went to see this in the theatre. We went as a family and even my teenage daughters enjoyed it.
Loud action packed and Tom cruise was awesome. Jennifer Connelly did a great job as well.
Loved the actors who played rooster and hangman. My only complaint is that there was no character development of the new crew. I remember watching the original, I bawled my eyes out when goose died. I felt like I didn't care about any of the new characters.
Overall is was a great start to summer film definitely worth seeing in the theatre.
Free Guy (2021)
Great movie with a great cast!
Free Guy is my favorite movie that I have watched during the dark ages of Covid. I'm not saying it's the best movie produced, but it was fun, endearing, and funny. The characters were all likable and played well. And Ryan Reynolds, I don't know what there is to say. I've been a fan since he first started and he is still cracking me up. I didn't recognize anybody else in the rest of the cast but I thought they all did a terrific job.
Love Hard (2021)
Entertaining and cute. Main characters had zero chemistry
This is the first Christmas movie I've watched this year. I enjoyed it. The characters were funny and cute. Wasn't over the top cheesy or religious. The scenery got me in the Christmas spirit. The only criticism I have is that the two leads had about as much chemistry has brother and sister. They were more believable as good friends.
Unsolved Mysteries (2020)
What a snooze fest
I am a lover of all things true crime, but this show is boring. I tried the first two episodes and it was just too slow for me.
Good Trouble (2019)
Authentic characters. Good writing
I'm a 35 yo so I'm a little embarrassed about how much I love this show. I feel like it's targeted at a younger audience because I'm gay, and I even I think it's super pc. The characters are good. Callie is my least favorite but she was on the fosters too. I actually like the new characters more than the fosters girls. It's funny and dramatic. I always look forward to watching this show! Great representation of diversity too.
Judy (2019)
Amazing acting... a little too boring
I'll admit I'm probably a little younger than the target audience, but after listening to a podcast on Judy Garland's tragic life, I thought this would be very interesting...
I do admit the acting was good but the movie was painfully slow. I finished it, but only to prove to myself I could.
