State of Alabama vs. Brittany Smith (2022)
Thou shalt not Lie..
It is horrendous what happened to Brittany Smith but that's not what I'm writing about here. The Author of this film has taken full advantage of this girl to send what I believe are some false narratives that were unlikely related to her convictions.
What I find troubling is the argument that Women are not represented fairly for the "stand your ground" cases and that it almost always favors the Men. Growing up and till this day, I have heard Police officers advise that if an intruder comes in your home, give the gun to the Women because she would stand a better case in court when trying to declare a self defense position.
The other troubling part of this film is the Author is trying to propose different scenarios where she lied to others in the heat of the moment and that it is justified to Lie under stressful situations and if it served the better outcome, then that is ok. It comes down to "is it ok to Lie". Answer, No, it often does not work in your favor to Lie for any reason. I am not crazy about the Justice system in general but you don't have any credibility when you repetitiously not tell the truth because there are underlying circumstances that would not favor your current situation.
The Author clearly has a motive here and used this situation to create a Documentary that would resonate with a large audience. I believe it fell flat here as it was a one sided story. Again this wasn't a story about an innocent Woman who was raped, beaten and proper Justice not served. It was a story depicting that All women are treated unfairly and that telling a Lie is justified if it's an means to an end.
My heart goes out to Brittany and she reminds me of a very close family member who I watched for many years make poor decisions that put her in bad situations. The men in her life done her wrong but her patterns and drug addiction put her in those situations. It eventually took her life and Brittany is lucky to be alive today. Hopefully she will make better decisions going forward and surround herself with people who aren't drug addicts and abusers.
Author: The JT LeRoy Story (2016)
Say what you will about Laura Albert
Most view this film as a documentary about a girl who experienced abuse as a child who had a knack and skill for writing. Although the story is absolutely fascinating, I find it a repeated indictment of Hollywood and their insatiable desire to grasp onto fiction mixed with truth of absolute depravity. They all relate to it because they have likely been the same victim of the same or similar crime to adolescence that is then well crafted as mere tabloid reading at a collegiate level. They are forever damaged, unable to move forward in a normal sense, medicate themselves through all types fixes and eventually die empty and broken. No real resolution is ever offered and so the cycle continues perpetuating the pain and creating the ever new depraved Sin cycle for others to mimic and rinse and repeat what they just watched. Soo many were fooled into believing the lie bringing confirmation to what was has been for-told in the "Real" 'good book if you catch my drift. She Laura is undoubtedly brilliant but troubled and I pray for her healing and repentance. May God reach out to you and redeem you Laura Albert and my you come to full repentance and salvation.
Stranger Things: Chapter One: The Hellfire Club (2022)
The Innocence is gone!!
The enamor of the series was the creativity and 80's vibe that drew me in along with the innocence of the kids that left you with some hope reflected on a time when kids weren't so inundated by Horror, sexual perversion and what the world had to dish out after childhood. This seems to be over and by the end of season three and moving into season 4 the end of the innocence has taken solid ground. The subtle tones of LGBT, selling and consumption of drugs and the repeated scenes of being the victim, there seems to be no Hope for these teenagers or the town of Hawkins and California. It is destined to be cursed forever and the kids to be by-product of the modern world bereft of any moral values. I was looking forward to escaping the politics that's ever present in almost everything on television. It seems to lack the creativity it once had and I wonder if the duffer brothers will be cursed in the same way the Wachowski's were.
Portrait of Wally (2012)
A plight to preserve pornographic Art
This was rated 7+ and gave no indication to the pornographic nature of the art that was displayed. Vivid shots of Schiele's Artwork of Women and Men in complete nakedness and in provocative poses were clearly on display here. It's the typical Human desire for the things of the flesh on full display but justified in the guise and sake of Art. Artwork was clearly stolen, but for the sake of human morality it would have been better off thrown in the fire.
Coming 2 America (2021)
Should be rated "R"
Between all the sexual innuendo, scantily dressed women whose purpose is to sexually serve the men, it is well crafted movie designed to laugh the men's desire to look onto all the women with lust. There were moments that were funny, but overall the liberal undertones, woke nature and political attack on the traditional family would have never flown 20 years ago under this child rating. I would never let a 13 year old watch this movie. I believe these actors think this is truly ok and appropriate in the hearts, but it is more of a reflection of our moral decline as a society. I was looking forward to this movie, but should have known the times are a changing and a changing for the worse.
Million Pound Menu (2018)
Rated TVMA on Netflix ??
Parental settings keep me from watching it. Seems like a ploy from Netflix to unlock your TVMA settings to watch any and all filth. As a foodie, I would like to watch it, but not if it's loaded with filthy language and or sexual content. I've yet to find anything that would indicate why it's rated TVMA.
The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez (2020)
Not all were implicted
Outside of the Mother and Boyfriend, It seems that the social workers were mostly implicated in the series and for sure in the local public eye. Who wasn't implicated whatsover it seemed was extended family. If anyone could have prevented the death of Gabriel and had some control of this situation would have been the grandparents, Uncle and potentially other extended family members. It's not the Social Workers Job to Police these people. The Mother was incredibly manipulative and the Social Workers consistently had case loads that was too large. Overall still a good documentary and a realization as to the evil that exists out there. I think it appropriate that they both received the death penalty immediately upon exit of the court room. It would send a clear message to others who would think of committing such atrocities.
Serial Killer with Piers Morgan (2017)
Fraudfully Painful
Piers "We are going to have a discussion about what your being accused of and this will be an opportunity to give your side of the story" What he really meant was I'm going to give you a chance to talk but I'm going to interrupt you, talk to you as if your guilty and try to embarrass you on camera. After watching the first two episodes, I was not convinced that these men did what they were accused of.
